Using Firefox as a web browser, questions

Is using Firefox safe, does is replace current browser or just provide another option? Third Man Records (Dead Weather site) tech support dept. recommended I download it for live chats. Any risk with it or is it all good? Thanks for any replies.

    I've followed enough posts around here to know that if Norm says its good- its good. Thanks alot!

    Norm and tybird beat me to it but yeah, Firefox is absolutely safe. My husband works in IT (I usually just say he's a computer guy ;) ) and we use Firefox on our computers at home.
