Is he one of the most important and most talented mc's ever?

I just downloaded his entire catalogue. Havent listened to anything yet, but I have had The grey Album for years and loved it, and recently heard jaydiohead, the mashing up of jay and Radiohead. And I enjoy the stuff he has done with Coldplay.

So any Jay fans out there?

He seems to be certainly one of the more prominent hip hop acts of our day and age.

Cant say I like Beyonce or her music though...

additionally, he made Linkin park cool again, in a way. Linkin park were one of the biggest, if not the biggest, band in the world in the early 2000's, then all of a sudden, they became unpopular. I definitely own up to liking them at first, but now, i dont listen to them.

Anyways, his mashup songs with Linkin Park are great.

People can remix Jay with any song, and he sounds great

I saw him live last year with my lady in Miami and he was ok with Mary J Blige. I'm not a huge fan but my loves Beyonce and said her concert last Monday in Sunrise Florida was one of the best she's seen.

I do love this video of his song *Minority Report*

Love Jay-z. His work has been inconsistent, but Reasonable Doubt and the Blueprint are stone classics from start to finish. The Black album is awesome as well, and Vol 1 and Vol 2 are solid as well. His MTV Unplugged is pretty kick ass as well... the Roots are the backing band for that.

You act like he's Nate Dogg or someone who's just there to work with other artists and has no merit of his own. And you start too many threads.

well seeing as how I havent heard any of his studio albums I dont know who or what he is. Which is kinda the reason I stated that "I just downloaded his entire catalogue and havent listened to anything yet". When you havent heard any of his other work, as I have and just the remix and collaborations, its sort of hard to know who or what an artist is. Maybe read before you type, thats a good word of advice you may want to heed.

Additionally, how did I act like he had no merit of his own. Did you read my post, where I asked if he is one of the most important and talented mc's in history? Cause I said that. Not hidden deep in my post. It was actually the opening statement I made. I love debating and discussion. But I dont know if there is a way to discuss things with people when they are talking about things that you said, and you in fact never said them.

Lastly, its a goddamned message board. If people dont want to discuss things, find another website, or dont read or comment on my threads.

There are a lot of artists that I don't care for but at the same time am familiar with their general work and place in music because I don't live under a fucking rock.

And yeah, it's a message board. I know that. I just think there should be some kind of complicated captcha that people need to solve in order to create threads. Because there are way too many stupid ones.

well seeing as I dont listen to the radio and havent in the past been familiar with mainstream hip hop, prefering underground hip hop instead, I cant say I know every single artist ever to have graced the earth's soil. Obviously this is something I need to work on.

Although, I am sure I have some cd;s by artists, that you may not be familiar to, and I am sure the reason for that would be because I dont live under a rock, which is your natural habitat.

I dont know, maybe I am odd, I just never got into the whole "mainstream rap" thing. yes there are great mainstream rappers, but again, I prefer underground and indie stuff.

But yeah, I guess we all should be more like you tallguy. I mean, I would say I am very knowledgable about music and bands, but we can't really talk about things in music, I guess, until we know about every single band that has ever existed, anywhere, ever.

Must be hard to know so much stuff, tallguy. How do you do it?

Its not like Jay-z dropped out of the sky yesterday. And even if I hadnt heard any of his entire albums, I certainly had heard some stuff, as I have repeated several times now.

And obviously you do live under a rock, because you didnt read my post at all, my original post. Your response to it was like you had read an entirely different post, by some other person.

It must be dark and cold under that rock!

captchas are those words/codes that you have to type in to prove that you're not a computer.

I would try and have a decent back-and-forth conversation with you, but statements like this make me realize that would be pointless.

I love Jay-Z for Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint alone. The Black Album and American Gangster ain't too shabby either.
