Yea he may not be the same from years past. But I have seen Dylan 3 times now and this was the best show yet. Awesome sound and his backup band is always amazing good. Dylan doesn't play guitar for the whole show but he did for a few songs last nite. Hearing ''Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again'' was a treat along with ''Love Sick'' Of course the whole setlist was sweet and hearing ''All along the watchtower'' for the final song was a treat. And nothing beats singing ''Like a rolling stone'' with everyone around you at the show. Catch Dylan if you can he is such a joy to watch.

Did you see him around 2001 at all? If so, how does he compare now? I saw him in Madison, Halloween '01, and it was a beautiful thing. One of my most memorable shows.

he must be real hit or miss. I saw him back in 2002 for the Rodeo in Houston and man that was the most qiet show I have ever been too. Bob didn't talk at all and the loudest cheering took place during "Lay Lady Lay" which was song 10 in a 12 song setlist. So it was just the weirdest thing to see things pick up for 3 songs. My mom still thinks Dylan was stoned out of his mind during this show.

damn... thats alot of bob on keyboard and hardly anything on guitar... its funny when you watch the old footage and he talks about how gimmicky it is switching between the two... id be disappointed seeing that... never seen him live but i have a pretty impossible expectations since i still see him as he was in his 20's

my sisters seeing him today at rothbury so ill have to ask her how it was

I saw him maybe around that time in Milwaukee but not sure. This was the best show I've seen with him. I was very pleased. :)

I just got back from Rothbury and I loved Dylan. Most of my friends were disappointed, but I really did like it, a lot. He sounded pretty good, and his band was good too.

What happened to Dylan that he can't play guitar for the whole show anymore? Just curious.

And Dylan's on my "Must-See" list, mainly because he's a living legend. I'm not too keen on him, but it must be a hell of an experience to watch a man that influenced decades worth of musicians perform on stage.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

Dylan had started to experience severe arthritis in the hands I think. So severe that playing guitar the picking strumming and chords were not possible for performing. (I think that's what someone told me a few years back) regarding the condition. Maybe it has improved to where he can play some guitar, or maybe he likes just playing keys now. Not to sure. I saw him back in 2002, and remember him on Guitar mostly but he did play the harp and harmonica (minus the guitar). He used to play both way back when.
His band has a bluesy brassing swing kind of sound now. The new records sound will reflect their sound on all the songs. So the hits are gonna have twists alot of times. The band has adjusted to the brassy swing style for several years now, so it's not noew. It may just throw some people off and dissapoint them if they don't know ahead of time.
I have told people to see Dylan just once, fan or not. He is considered the best songwriter in music by many and his music does grow on you album wise. If you want to start getting into Dylan album wise I recommend the Essential Bob Dylan. It's a Great starting point and then if that grows on you then go ahead and get into some albums. But yes, I would see the legend live while you have the chance. I am so glad I can say I saw a man who was as influential to music as he is.
Also, there is some pretty decent sounding footage on you tube from this particular summerfest show, so you can check out kind of what I mentioned on the band and see what they sound like as well if you want.
    hope this helps. :D
