Michael Jackson Dies

Posted Jun 25th 2009 5:20PM by TMZ Staff

Michael JacksonWe've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but he was completely unresponsive.

We're told one of the staff members at Jackson's home called 911.

La Toya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

LOS ANGELES – A fire department official tells the Los Angeles Times that Michael Jackson has been rushed to the hospital.

Steve Ruda (ROO'-dah) told the newspaper Thursday that Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m.

The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told the paper.

    L. Londell McMillan, a lawyer for Jackson, did not have any information. Messages left for other Jackson associates were not immediately returned.

The hospitalization was first reported by the Web site TMZ.

A tremendous talent. It's a shame what he turned into. RIP.
  • I am assuming that I might be in the minority here, but Michael Jackson's death is a great loss. Putting aside all of the scandals and odd lifestyle, he was a fantastic musical artist and performer.

I grew up in the 1980s and wore out my "Thriller" record and cassettes. I know that I am saddened by this news. I hope that he rests in peace.

Just what WE were talking about - that "death always seems to come in 3's). I was upset about Farrah. She was always so beautiful - especially her hair! Michael Jackson - now THAT was a shock to us! I remember "Thriller" coming out - but I wasn't much of a fan. I remember the Jackson 5 way back in the 70's. They had a Saturday morning cartoon I used to watch when I was young  . I always loved the "rat" song - "Ben." I think it's tragic. Very sad.

  • There was never any proof that he molested any chlidren and he was aquitted of the chrages against him. He deserves respect for his talent and accomplishments and I find the comments about him here in this forum to be especially ignorant and offensive. Although, it doesn't surpise me coming from dumb fratboy Pearl Jam fans, who weren't even alive yet when Thriller came out.

It's a good point - how will MJ be remembered? I was in elementary school when Thriller came out and remember the cartoon, the moonwalk, the videos, We Are The World and, honestly, some great songs.

But then you have the post Bad period, which can be described kindly as bizarre, or, more harshly, as sick or depraved. So what will stick?

I personally think (and no one cares, what I think anyway) that not only was his death tragic - most of his life was tragic. Although I was not a fan of his genre of music - quite the opposite in fact - and despite the allegations of the past, (and I STILL cringe) ....I remain saddened that he is now gone. Can't explain it.

I agree. He seemed a tragic person or at the very least troubled and not happy. My first thought when I heard is that he is now at peace and his troubles are behind him. RIP

I loved Michael and not scared to admit it. I remember being 12 and dressing up in Miami Vice white suit/pastel shirt and moonwalking in the mall since they had the waxed floors.

Thriller will always be one of the greatest albums ever. I still have my original vinyl of it (before cassette and fucking digital shit)

His Jackson five stuff is so good.

    RIP.
  • Regardless of what we think he was or wasn't, we can't ignore the fact that Michael Jackson was a talented, influential icon.

I sincerly hope he's finally at peace.

I guess hell needed another child molester.

as someone who usually enjoys reading yours posts, I have to ask you, is there any fucking need for this?

Sure the guy was troubled, manipulated, and unashamably used/drained for the purposes of money by those who were supposed to be close to him, sure he had money, and sure he wasnt your stereotypical normal, but then again when you are stripped of your childhood, given the upbringing he was said to have had, is that so unnatural?

The man did so much for the world both in his talent and charity work, and all we can muster up here is some apparent bullshit about playing with kids. Shocking it really is.

Ask yourself, this twat known as Jordy. He wanted justice right? He wanted Jacko to pay for what he 'did' to him, he wanted the world to know, and for Jacko to get a conviction? Hmmmmmm. Strange that that all stopped when he got some money. But thats the story of Micheals life or so it seems, people exploiting him for everything he was worth along the way. He was a cash cow, and I'm afraid when you are of his mindset, and you get fucked over by everyone who is supposed to be your friend, you must wonder where you can turn to find real support, trust and integrity. So I'm not saying its right, because its clearly not, but its easy to understand why he found comfort in having friendship with young people. Mainly because they are not motivated by greed, and a friendship is just that. Sure its insane, but thats the life he found himself in,. through the riguers of world stardom at a very very young age, and through the loss of his childhood, and the loss of any kind of route through those early formulative years which make us who we are.

The man was tried for these allegations, and you know what he was found innocent, thats enough for me. The blood sucking parasites got fuck all this time round. But they did finally ruin the man once and for all, so perhaps they are proud of that.

Dont get me wrong I'm not his biggest fan, but to see someone who has clearly been fucked all along the way through what can only seem a troubled life, management, advisors, bankers, labels, friends, families etc, is truely heartbreaking. Micheal was an exceptional talent, who can only be put up there with lennon and Elvis. Not only that he was probably the best performer the world will ever see. Again i stress I'm not a huge fan, but I do recognise how great he was, and the mark he has left. Its extremely sad and your comment seems very harsh in light of his death, and sits very uneasy with me

    RIP MJ
  • 2nd concert i ever went to was MJ in London at Wembley Stadium in 1992 on the Dangerous tour. So glad i got to see him live.
