Best Song: Got Some, The End, Unthought Known, Fixer, SOS

All 3 songs are wonderful but I give the edge to Unthought Known. It's steady, focused and intense. Very powerful stuff.

Got Some rocks and The End is solid but I think Unthought Known takes the cake.

EDIT: or The Fixer ans Speed of Sound

I've only heard one of the three. I've come to the very personal decision that I am not going to seek out new songs.

If they play them live on national TV, I'll watch. Otherwise, I'm waiting for the album. I don't like to open presents before Christmas.

It is hard to judge, I have heard all three. No one has heard the studio versions yet, or UNthought Known or The End with the full band. I like The End the best right now, but could easily change once I hear them played polished up live with the full band.

I'm with you. I can't wait to hear this new beautiful package all at once. I am sure we will hear the Fixer if it is the first single, but I haven't listened to Got Some lately either so the album can be as pure as possible for me.

    1. The End
    2. Got Some
    3. Unthought Known

Unthought Known is gonna sound great with the whole band-- I'm excited for that. That said, my current favorite is The End. When he played that in Philly I was almost moved to tears. But it seems like it was made for Ed solo, not a PJ tune. We'll find out in September.

    1. The End
    2. Unthought Known
    3. Got Some
    4. The Fixer

I agree with you. I have a feeling Unthought has gone through some major changes since being introduced to the band. Maybe that is why Ed isn't playing it on his solo tour. The version i hear now has lots of promise but it doens't sound fully realized.

The Fixer is going to be a lot of fun too!

i'm really excited. I recall enjoying WWS when it was released but being turned off by Life Wasted and Unemployable from the get go. This is much different (though i've not heard the studio versions yet so...)
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
  • I think all three are top notch. I'm really impressed with Unthought and The End by Eddie. Lyrically two of the best songs he's written lately, prob ever. The completeness of The End, the way the words and music really come together as one, blows me away each listen. I can't wait to hear Unthought with the full band, but until then I'll go with The End as my fav.

oh and Got Some rocks big, hairy balls.

    1. Got Some
    2. The End
    3. Unthought Known
    4. The Fixer

The Fixer is so hard to hear and the repetition isn't my favorite, but I am still loving it. I love the End but I'm just in the mood for rock, especially after seeing Ed thrash the stage during Hard Sun the other night, so Got Some is in the top spot. Great rock song right there!

I feel really lucky to have heard The End and Unthought Known live (at the time just thought they were covers I didn't recognize so woe is me) so I have a bias towards those. I guess the Fixer is the weakest although I do like it.

    The End
    Unthought Known
    Got Some
    The Fixer

I could see Got Some shooting high though once the studio version comes out.

It's an ok tune, just not on the caliber of the other three songs. Ok, maybe to be fair Got Some would drop to maybe the 20s or 30s in my obscure ranking, but I still love the first two.
