Kenny Chesney did the coolest thing last night

Yeah I saw Kenny Chesney with the GF, and yes it was a great show BTW.

Anyways he came out in the coolest way ever! It was at Soldier Field (ahh the memories of 95 came swirling back) he came out of the soundboard tent from the aerial photographers little movable lift thing that suspends him over the entire field by wires. So the music is playing, no Kenny, all of a sudden everyone goes nuts and us, sitting right next to where he came out, cannot see him yet. We turn and look and he is literally hanging over us in this little chair singing the opening song. he then proceeds to be swung around half the field crowd and lands on his stage starts into the next song. Fucking cool even for country

the dude and chick from Sugarland got inside these giant plastic clear balls like you see at carnivals and parties and literally ran over the crowd in them. So we got run over by Sugarland in plastic balls and sung over by Chesney

two firsts for me

Sugarland borrowed the plastic ball bit from the Flaming Lips. I was at the show last night as well, I thought the chair from the sound tent thing was pretty cool too. I was surprised he didn't have any kind of safety, I was expecting a roadie to meet him at the stage to unhook him from the chair.

Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw represent everything that is wrong about modern country music. But it's good that you had a nice time. :)

i thought you were going to say he retired, that would have been awesome.
he's making money though so i can't knock him too bad. I would just rather spend my money on musicians and not entertainers.

Rascall Flatts are everything that is wrong with modern country. They're a boy band with twang vocals.

Glad you enjoyed country, though. My friends always demand that I go and I always refuse. I might make it out next year and just black out so I don't have to remember it. The tailgate seems like it could be fun.

While I've never really cared for Kenny Chesney, I do have a lot of respect for Keith Urban. That guy is one hell of a musician.

Ooh don't even get me started on Rascall Flatts. You're right, they might actually be worse. So so terrible.

he's ok..... There seems to be alotta hype around him as a guitar player, but the only thing that makes him stand above his peers is that he actually plays the thing instead of standin and strummin a acoustic.

You wanna hear some real country guitar playing, check out Johnny Hiland, Junior Brown or hell, Brad Paisley.

I like Keith's tone... I saw him do something at the grammy's, I was impressed.

Yeah, that is what I always thought. My friends always rave about him and Brad Paisley's guitar playing, but from what I can tell they're decent. Good for country, but nothing special. I mean, after having seen Derek Trucks, Trey Anastasio, Warren Haynes, John Frusciante....they're kind of boring. They're good, but nothing that impressive compared to some other guitarists in the business today...

Anastasio is probably the only guy you mentioned in Paisley's league. I'm not a big fan of his music, but the guy is a master guitar player.

Too bad Chesney didn't steal his suspension ideas from Owen Hart  ;)

actually....I've seen KISS, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, and Motley Crue all fly over their crowds....not exactly ground-breaking. Still fun, I suppose.
