No one talking about this album, any thoughts on it? What is it like?

What album are you guys referring to? Blues Funeral? Haven't heard of anything else besides the Duke Garwood album (excellent BTW) that's recent. I wouldn't be surprised if he's already putting together another solo effort though. Blues Funeral was probably by fav album of 2012...0

I would say Blues Funeral and Black Pudding are career highlights for Lanegan.
Black Pudding is wonderfully haunting, great album to spin after the sun goes down. I think it is also worth a mention to Alain Johannes who produced both these albums and they sound amazing. Very expertly put together and he obviously knows what Lanegan is after.
I believe he is also putting together another album of covers and that a 2 disc compilation with b sides and unreleased material is suppossed to be surfacing this year. Its been a while since I've heard anything on those two but Lanegan isn't one to sit still. I'm expecting a Lanegan/Garwood tour.0 -

Cool, yes definitely worth buying IMO! If you're a fan of his earlier, more acoustic-based solo albums, you'll dig some Black Pudding.0 -
Yeah, I made comment about it last week.
Blues Funeral had tons of buildup and then late last week I see a review for a new Lanegan album that has already hit the shelves. Great news but it caught me by surprise.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0 -

"Black Pudding"? That's funny, I just purchased this last night and gave it a full listen with some great headphones and it is spectacular. Following up "Blues Funeral" with this collaboration is like a one-two punch. It seems to me that pretty much everything Mark Lanegan does I end up enjoying quite a bit.Digital Twilight wrote:I would say Blues Funeral and Black Pudding are career highlights for Lanegan.

Yes! Alain has quite a knack for making a beautiful sounding record. I thought the production quality on "Blues Funeral" was excellent and this new record is consistent with that. I like what you said about the sun going down and this being the perfect record to listen to at that time. For some reason it makes me also think of a desert landscape; the desolate west of the US. I'm tripping to southern Utah next week and I am so glad that I'll have this as a soundtrack.Digital Twilight wrote:I believe he is also putting together another album of covers and that a 2 disc compilation with b sides and unreleased material is suppossed to be surfacing this year. Wow, that's nice news. Lanegan is staying active, which is a great thing for his fans. I hope there is a tour... that would be unreal.7/2/06 - Denver, CO

If I was going to try and sum up Black Pudding in a few words Dave beat me to it and he only used two...
Absolutely spot on! Mark Lanegan has really delivered again with Duke Garwood. Great voice, songwriter, collaborator, lyricist and spooky as hell frontman. Everything he touches is pure gold!
