Will we ever see a return for Parting Ways?

What or whose opinion changed about this song to the extent that it has slipped so far down the rankings as a setlist choice so quickly? Ok, it wasn't ever a cert on any setlist but a great song to throw in as a surprise once in a while and it's such a high quality song to leave out. Absolutely beaufiful but completely ignored.

*Played only 19 times in total in 13 years!
*Only 4 appearances in almost 10 years!
*Not played for (77 shows) almost 4 years!
*They have played Push Me, Pull Me 7 times since it was last played!
*They have played Just Breathe 65 times since it was last played!
*Also it has never been played outside the US apart from Ed in NZ.
*I really hope this one can find it's way back in and make it over to Europe next time too.

It's last appearance:

Seems like you went deep in archives. I think Of the girl and Sleight of hand have similar gloomy statistics. In general, Binaural songs don't seem to get enough playtime after 2000-2003 period.
What's your part, who you are?

    2013: Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires

I hope so! Love that song. Parting Ways > Porch would be a killer way to end an encore.

It's a solo Ed song now like arc, band can't keep. Played 25 times solo according to http://www.setlist.fm/stats/eddie-vedder-6bd6a2e2.html was lucky to catch it last year.

Its beauty hides behind its rareness. Which is simply not applied at all with Just breathe.
By far my favourite in their sad song catalog.

Another reason Philly Spectrum Night 3 was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Parting Ways with strings was PHENOMENAL. Personally would take it over Just Breathe any day.
I also included it on the essential PJ project I made for my cousin (Disc 1 - Studio tracks; Disc 2 - Live; Disc 3 - side projects).

If you read the Binaural stats it's pretty grim indeed. Those you mentioned have been played twice as much as Parting Ways. Thin Air and Rival supposedly have their reasons for not really getting played which I understand but nothing from Binaural gets a fair chance. In 6 shows I've seen Insignificance twice and Light Years once. It's becomjng such an elusive album to hear live which is frustrating if you can't get to many shows. I know it's not really important in real life terms as I can listen to probably every live version of every Binaural song when I choose. I just hate hearing sub-standard versions of great songs because the band barely play them, therefore probably rarely rehearse them. Maybe some day these songs will find their way back in with the Riot Act songs that have taken a back seat. Anyway, Parting Ways as someone pointed out it would fit in the Just Breathe spot from time to time. By far one of the classiest songs PJ have ever written and you wonder if they even realise it? Ed does a decent job on it solo but that doesn't mean he needs to hijack it for himself. I was starting to think Sometimes was going to go the same way but every PJ song is better with full band as beautiful as Ed can perform on his own.

Ed seems to enjoy it solo... So there's always hope ... But the more records are released, the further down the pecking order it will go

I've seen Ed play it solo. I do agree that Binaural songs are not really played much in the sets anymore.

Yes! A really long version of Porch...
Veddertown, have you tallied up your recent questionnaire? What three songs were most popular?

obviously the band knows that parting ways is a special song and should only be played on certain occasions, if that wasn't the case then it would of never been played @ the spectrum with strings non the less.

on top of it, it was the best version played of that song.

took me nearly 40 shows to get that song.

I'm lucky To have seen it my second show. Havent since.

It's a great song. Amazing song. That being said I'm pretty sure it's an energy killer at a show.

The same can be said for just breathe. So if they insist on playing a slower song to open the encore, then how about these?

    All or none
    Thumbing my way
    Parting ways
    All those yesterday's
    Off he goes
    Wishlist
    Sleight of hand
    Nothing as it seems
    Sometimes
    Smile
    Footsteps
    Nothing man
    Man of the hour
    Around the bend

And it goes on and on. But just breathe over and over is tiresome. So I'd like to see it rotated a bit but honestly don't expect it to be.

I wish they'd play it more often...I really enjoyed the solo Ed versions, but I'd love to hear it with the whole band as well.
