Would love to see Gary open up some of the PJ shows. Would be incredible to watch him and McCready trade solos on a Hendrix cover or on a PJ song.

Great suggestion. I would love to see him as an opener.
  • GCJr is badass however he is too versed in the blues/jam scene to make logical sense.

Ben Harper worked on the Yield tour...back when he was much more bluesy than he is now.

I would die to see this happen, but just don't think it ever will :(
I would also suggest giving "Reignwolf" aka/ Jordan Cook a chance and
    a career boost.We all know he's badass!
I'd love to see them show some love to a great Canadian band,
"Big Wreck". They are amazing live and would fit right in opening up for
    PJ.
"Wild Flag","The Screaming Females" or "The Dum Dum Girls" would
    all rock my world !!!!

Gary Clark Jr was awesome at Made in America.

EC's Crossroads Guitar Fest, also - both nights. First night just him, a guitar and a kick drum. Yowzers!!!

Great suggestion. Much better than the charity work they've been doing for their openers lately.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

That is actually a really good choice. Not a big fan of listening to his album but he is solid live.

I agree, on the album he's good, but live he's unbelievable. Caught him opening MIA when there were maybe a few hundred around the stage, by the end of the set there were a thousand or so and the buzz was growing. When he played the side stage the next day there were thousands waiting for him to play. Kick ass live performer. Saw him again in DC this winter and he just crushed it.

I totally respect and admire what PJ tries to do with their openers and what X means to Ed and the guys, but it would be fun if they changed it up. I discovered Ben Harper because they brought him on tour. You could tell MMJ, KOL and the Black Keys were on the verge of blowing up when they opened for PJ.

It would be great to have that experience w/ an opener again.

Not altogether sure he is in the right category to draw the audience in early but I'm sure if PJ picked him the ones who came to listen would be instant converts. Great musician and the coolest looking guy since Huggy Bear!! :D
