Tell me about your favorite PJ "bloopers"

Hi everyone,

I'd love some help.

I've got this PJ video blog on which I've been posting one awesome video per day (in an effort to make me sit down at my computer and work on my thesis). One of my favorite things is finding funny little "bloopers" from PJ's past - where something went wrong and it resulted in hilarity for all. I just found this awesome "Crazy Mary" where Mary apparently did not like being called a lunatic, and showed up in full force to put a stop to that shit (from Philly in 2005).

And there's another one, when they started out "All Those Yesterdays" and then something went wrong, and it's just hilarious. The crowd reaction is classic.

I'm sure there are tons more: what have you got for me? One of the things I love about this band is that their shows aren't polished, and these little moments are just one more thing that makes them special. It's not that they're messing up, it's the reaction to it.

Thanks in advance!
Jean Louise Finch

dont have time to search for video right now, but Ed played nearly the entire Main Square Festival in Arras this past month with his fly down. He noticed sometime near the end of the show, zipped up and smiled and laughed. It was pretty funny

Most recent I witnessed: Smile in Copenhagen, around 2:55

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPlMRfKdx-w

What was really funny was the crowd was actually singing it correctly and it could have gotten back on track but Ed keeps on fucking it up, and at one point, Stone, Jeff and Mike were all looking at each other going wtf?!? EVERYONE was smiling. It was awesome :lol:

On Marker in the Sand, Mike then walks up to Ed's mic (think because it's louder?) and says, "I fucked it up. I wrote the song, and I fucked it up but I guess I have the right to". It was so endearing :)

There are a hilarious number of Ed-forgetting-the-lyrics bloopers. The "Smile" from Copenhagen is great - thanks for sharing! I think he can be forgiven the lyrical disaster of this one: tough news about Dennis Flemion and he had a cold.

And I love the comment on that Alive video from Tigerpuffer: "That was so fucking terrible that it was hilariously awesome. How is this not the greatest band in the world?? :D" Awesome.

Oh, no question, he was definitely crushed by the news about Dennis Flemion. I actually was happy to see the band laughing about the mess, thought Ed might be hard on himself for messing up especially after just dedicating it to Dennis. Did I mention they sang Smile the night before too? He actually did OK there which made this extra funny, it's not like he hadn't had any practice.

    I love the fuck-ups!

Sept 17, 2011. Winnipeg. Ed goes on to introduce Amongst The Waves, explaining the meaning etc, and then all of a sudden says "forget everything I just told you, it's completely incorrect", and they played "Arms Aloft". then he says "and here's a song that literally needs no introduction" and they play ATW.

    Leatherman from Columbus 2000:

I read about a man to whom I may be related, he's leatherman.
Died a long time ago in the 1880's...leatherman, leatherman.
Covered with leather, but it was tight.
Underneath the moon in the woods at night...

Makin' the rounds ten miles a day,
Once a month they'd spot him, here's what they'd say...
"Here he comes, he's a man of the land.
He's leatherman. Smile on his face, an axe in his pack.
    He's leatherman."

Comes out of the caves once a day to be fed.
Wasn't known to say but "Thanks for the bread."

So modern day I walk my way, my jacket faded,
Just like a man of leather whom I may be related.

Rolled a cigarette, but when he asked for a light,
la la la la la la la la....la la la

Makin' the rounds ten miles a day.
Once a month they'd spot him and here's what they'd say...
"Here he comes, he's a man of the land, he's leatherman.
Smile on his face, an axe in his hand.
    He's leatherman."

    Shake his hand he's leatherman.
    Bake some bread he's leatherman.
Shame he's dead. I saw his bed,
It's all that's left of leatherman.

    Give me some skin, leatherman

He had one of those stands musicians use for sheet music during Mother in Berlin.. guess he wanted to make sure he didn't mess that one up! I noticed Ed is much more careful about not messing up covers.

    Covers aren't his songs.

(I wonder if they have to pay to play cover songs, or how that works. Does it come out of the bootleg, or do they have to fork over the cash BEFORE they play the song?)

Plus...two bottles of wine in someone? No wonder he forgets words!
