Amongst the Waves Music Video Premieres in Conjunction with Launch of pearljam.com/oceans
06.30.10

Pearl Jam premiered today their new music video “Amongst the Waves” in conjunction with the launch of Pearl Jam’s new web page http://www.pearljam.com/oceans. The third single from Backspacer, “Amongst the Waves” was created by our friends at VOLCOM and is streaming for free from http://www.pearljam.com/oceans and at http://www.nationalgeographic.com.

The launch “Amongst the Waves” is part of Pearl Jam’s larger effort to highlight http://www.pearljam.com/oceans and raise awareness on the efforts of various organizations working diligently on ocean preservation.

Beginning July 6th, “Amongst the Waves” will be available for sale on iTunes with proceeds from the U.S. sale of the video benefiting partner organization Conservation International's Ocean Campaign.

    Kat/Sea...can you confirm that the footage is from the Spectrum on 10/31? Any way we will possibly see more of this footage at a later date?

    Immediately my favourite video the band has produced to date. The fact that the band is backing this hugely significant cause, as well, is very admirable in my opinion.

    Hands down, best PJ music video yet. And what a treat hearing the live version as opposed to the album one.

    absolutely phenomenal video, you feel a sense of calm while watching it. Not to mention the song is effin brilliant itself.

    Have to say I am completely underwhelmed by this video...it seems really disjointed to me and the live stuff mixed with the sea stuff just doesnt work for me

    I think they should have chosen one or the other to focus on. Great cause though and I will buy it to support the overall aim but as far as music videos go its pretty poor IMHO...so its PJ up to their usual tricks ;)

    I (sadly) have to agree with you about the concert footage: Black and White with dropped frames? It's 1993 all over again, baby :)

    OTOH, the ocean shots are great.

    I love this vid. The ocean pictures that flow into the live concert footage and back again... make total sense to me. As there have been so many PJ lyrics inspired by the ocean waters. The outcome of this disaster in the gulf is more out spread and serious then anyone perceives...I can't believe there hasn't been more of an outcry in the U.S. over what BP has done? Am I missing something up here? I love this band!!

    Love the video. Very cool footage.

    I have a question though.... numerous times on the 09 tour when Ed was introducing this song, he said it had nothing to do with the oceans or surfing. That it was about love and the feeling of being "Up, riding high amongst the waves"

    Seems to be taking on a different theme now. Glad that they are putting this in the forefront of their many causes.

    The little girl touching the camera makes me so impatient for summer to arrive and take my little girl to the beach and really let her experience the wonder of the ocean.

    She turned four this year and has always loved the beach (as we all do living on the greatest beaches in the world) but has been too little and scared to let me take her under. This will be the summer.

    It reminds me a lot of the Alive video, waves at the beginning, followed by a live performance of the band, in black and white. I thought the video was kind of uninteresting, but overall a good job. I would have liked to have seen more of the whole band instead of just Matt and Ed, but who am I to complain? Great work.

    Yeah, it's for a good cause, but this video is pretty poor. I though PJ was against putting out videos if they couldn't make a grand statement with it? This is just live footage + someone on holiday. The whole GUlf thing feels like it was just tacked on at the end so people couldn't bash it.
