ok i have an old model (i think) epiphone strat copy. i got it over the summer from a pawn shop and it sounds pretty good. the magnets on the pickups have some rust on them. so my question is how much, if any does that affect the sound? i was thinking about buying some new fender pickups (texas) and having them installed because i dont think i know how. what kinda sound do the texas pickups have? i only paid $140 for the guitar and the pickups i are like $165 should i even do it? or how should i go about cleaning the rust off the pickups. i thought about steel wool but i wanted to ask around first. and where can i find out exactly what year/model the guitar is? sorry this is so long any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Uh my advice would be take it to your local music store, see what they say cus you can buy the pickups ups there and have them installed there, plus they also could give u advice about cleaning it if you don't plan to buy new ones.
