Other Side of Lost Dogs makes me think how l would cope if l lost somebody dear to me. l think that makes this one sad song.
There's no other place l would rather be
If l could live in a moment l would live this memory
All alone with my thoughts and the sun as my best friend
And the view as my muse as l begin again

you know what does it for me???
"Ive got scratches all over my arms....one for each day, since I fell apart"

For me the saddest song is Release.
When Ed talks about waiting up in the dark, for "him' to speak to him.

I'd probably have to go with either Come Back, Light Years, Nothingman, Sad, Parting Ways, or Black...all amazing songs!

Yes--all those. Plus Ed's newest - No More.

    "Light Years"

The lyrics hit a personal chord for myself.

i make a difference between sad (asin making me feel sad) and songs that have a sad well played out topic.

Songs that make me sad are "Strangest Tribe" and "Thumbing my way to Heaven"... i dont like listening to them much... too moody

Songs that I love and find wonderfully sad are "Tremor Christ", "Immortality" and "Nothing as it seems" ... but thats off the top of the head. I'm sure there are more.

Triumphant are the angels if they can get there first."

I'm with you on this. Footsteps is one of the most gut wrenching songs I've ever heard. For me, comeback and even thumbing my way are sad songs, but not as simple and painful in my opinion.

Release is also sad to me, but it has brought new meaning lately.

Same thing with Save You.. but I think of that as a sad song because of my perspective.

Can't believe its only been mentioned once.

    Arc

As far as intent and meaning behind a song, that is the saddest song IMO.

Okay I am ignorant of the intent and meaning behind that song. Can someone explain?

I would say for me it's Release, Long Road... Come Back is close but it's still so new that I try not to be too "hasty" in my accessments of the newest songs.

    In no particular order:

Come back, black, Long road, arc, MOTH, untitled (lisbon), nothingman, all those yesterdays, thumbing my way, release, indifference, SMILE, off he goes.

When Ed was trying to write a song about the Roskilde Festival tradegy (where 9 fans died in the pit) all he could come up with to express his feelings was Arc.

Also it has only been performed 9 times.....and probably will never be again.
