Me I figure as each breath goes by,
    I only own my mind,..

Seek my part, devote myself, my small self,
like a book amongst the many on the shelf,.

I swallowed my words to keep from lying,
I swallowed my face just to keep from biting,
I swallowed my breath, went deep, I was diving,..diving
I surfaced when all of being was enlightened,
    ah dum,,
Im in hiding, ooohhhhhhhh im in hiding..

    She will rise above...

Stop light plays its part, so I would say you've got a part...

Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip...

And everything is you. Me you, you me, it's all related...

I know I was born and I know that I'll die, the in-between is mine...

Reaching in, the sun's fingers clutch the dawn too fast... (That one is a Stone lyric, right?)

I am a huge Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder fan.
I think he is an amazing writer. What his words mean to us is ussually a personal interpretation which is the beauty behind art, music etc. However, I feel there are some often some genius of brevity that comes out of his pen, meanings that are universally understood, some more ambiguous..anyone have any favorites?
    Feel free to share !

    My personal favorites:
"Clouds roll by, reeling is what they say,
or is it just my way?" -Lowlight

"He who forgets, will be destined to remember"-Nothingman

I need to note: the above lyrics of Low Light you quote as Ed. - are by Jeff Ament. Kind regards

it's impossible for me. just when i think he can't top himself, he does.
I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.

That line is from "Man of the Hour". Yes, it's beautiful.

I've heard it a few times from Benaroya Hall cd, but not enough to know it by heart. I'm gonna listen for that line next time.

that's the song that Eddie got nominated for a grammy for, right?--from the movie Big Fish. I thought that was a great movie. what other films has Tim Burton done?

Let's face it, there aren't many songs in the Pearl Jam catalogue that don't have at least one great line.

    Just one example.

    In Hiding -

"I swallowed my words to keep from lying.
I swallowed my face just to keep from biting."
    ... still Alive...

-Vacate is the word...vengeance has no place so near to her

-It's funny when things change so much, it's all state of mind.

-So I’ll just lie down and wait for the dream
Where I’m not ugly and you’re lookin’ at me

-All that's sacred comes from youth

-you can spend your time alone redigesting past regrets
or you can come to terms and realize
you're the only one who cannot forgive yourself

Here are some of my fav's...

"This land is min, this land is free. I do what I want and Irresponsibly..."

"Daddy didn't give attention...ohh...to the fact that mummy didn't care..."

"sometimes he sees a strange spot in the sky, a human being that was given to fly" I know it's jeff's amazing mind that created this one, but it's freaking awesome. Actually that whole song is full of gorgeous lines. another is

"He floated back down cause he wanted to share the key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere."

There are so many aren't there! I love Pearl Jam!!!!

I hate these threads, b/c there's no way I can pick out just a few great ones. He's brimming with them. And depending on my mood, they all mean something to me.

    Right now, I'm thinking of:

    Gorgeous was his saviour
    She's drowning in his wake
    Life is the riddle
Of which we're caught in the middle.
    A couple of lucky ones
Tangled up in too much love

A lot!! I think that i can't take only one (or 25), but one of all is the final line from black:I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be the star in somebody else's sky why can't it be mine. When I heard(excuse me, it writes this way in past tense?) it and understand it for first time I thought: " What kind of bitch!!! Poor boy, if someone tell me something like this I'll never let him anyway!!!!!" It's very beautiful.

This is my first post ever... Hello all! I hope I do the forum justice with it!

LittleSecrets read my mind, and how tough is it to follow the post right before me, but here goes (I apologize now if I mis-quote)

    - i wish i was the full moon shining off your camaro's hood

And the one that has sat on my brain ever since I heard it:

    - I'm like an openning band for the sun (this is the one I hope I quted correctly)

I love Tremor Christ so my favourite lines are from that:

    - I'll decide. Take the dive.
Take my time, not my life.
Wait for signs, believe in lies.
    To get by, it's divine.
