If you do drink , dont be fooled into thinking that drinking shorts and mixer instead of pints = less fluid in the bladder. I found out the hard way on the bus to oxegen this year.. oh god .. the relief when i got to the smelly overflowing portaloo was both overwhelming and horrifying at the same time. :D
:D:D did ya enjoy oxegen? I was there too.

What about shots - no mixer??? A couple of shots to loosen ya up.. fuck all liquid and you should be ok. I'd a couple of shots before Astoria and it wasn't too bad.
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
Had I not found this love with you

I do drink at most shows but PJ creates something of a dilemma in that I really don't want to have to go pee when they're on stage as sods law dictates that the moment you do, they'll start playing your favourite song!!
A democracy on paper, apparently well ordered, regularly subverted by irrational chaos.

I would be sober for your first show, drunk for the second and stoned for the third. See which you like best...

    the man with the plan!

i'm going to antwerp, paris and berlin.
for my first PJ-gig ever, I must stay sober, the day after I have an oral exam.
second one is in paris, so I can join Mr vedder in drinking (lots of) red wine.
as I'm going to 3 shows Berlin will be stoned one. not that I bother.
I'll let you know wich I liked best.

Didnt' see Ben Harper - we camped for the weekend. The Who and Sigur Ros were huge highlights for me. Sigur Ros was an almost spiritual experience, lol.

Didn't have to go to the toilet for them but I went just before the Who so I was fine for them. Honestly it really would kinda ruin it having to go.

drunk, certainly not, you'd be wasting the experience (plus the bladder problem). I was stone sober at the Astoria yet high on music for 24h after..

But the one to have a couple of drinks at would be Leeds; Festivals are more drink-friendly I found.

I always have a couple beers tailgating or at the bar before the show. No more, no less.
The less you know, the more you believe.

You get to see the band in just over a week... I am extremely jealous...Here is my advice... If you do drink or smoke too much weed... buy the bootleg and it will all come back to you....better yet...listen to the bootleg stoned and relive the entire experience :)

A few pints for a buzz should suffice. Don't wanna be wincing through blurred vision to try make them out onstage.
All my favourite singers have stolen all of my best lines.

For your first show I would strongly advise against getting drunk. Maybe have one or two. Your first show will be something you will want to treasure. Besides, no one likes drunks at gigs ;)

    I can understand a buzz
but getting drunk or very drunk, nah
what's the point if you can't remember afterwards?

    plus you could get annoying
    i hate annoying drunks
