Question on posters and pre-show arena access

Ok, so I know that posters go fast, but I really don't have a feel for what to prepare for if I want to get one (and I stress ONE). I mean, is it a matter of doors opening, mad rush to a few merch booths, and posters gone in 5 minutes? or, first half hour after doors open? I can't picture myself doing the mothers-fightin-for-toys things on those day-after-thanksgiving holiday sales, where I'm getting shoved and pushed running to a merch booth. But I really would like to get a poster of a show I've been at.

So, do I need to line up at the doors for when they open, is there usually a line?
Any feedback appreciated.

Also, anyone know what time doors open in Denver?

Secondly, once doors are open, what sort of accessibility is usually allowed from section to section, if you don't have a ticket for that section? I'm talking before any bands hit the stage... just the pre-show time. If I have tickets in one section, but would like to get a view from a different section (floor, side, wherever) that I don't necessarily have a ticket for, are you usually allowed to wander around like that? Again, any feedback appreciated.

    I just showed up maybe 30-45 minutes before the show started in Cincy and waited in line, didn't seem to sell out right away.

    Seems like the people that didn't get one are the ones that either didn't want one or got there right at the start of the show.

    Getting in lline about half hour or so should be good.

    And I can't stress this next part enough. Don't follow the herd to the first merch stands inside the doors, they are always jammed with people. Save some sanity and go up to the next level of the place if there is one and check the merch stand, there will be no one there because everyone is downstairs fighting into the one down there. ;)

    Thanks for the responses, all.

    Are most of these places also selling poster tubes? I've heard sometimes it's a venue-by-venue thing. Passing it back out of the arena isn't an option for me, and I'd hate to have it trampled or squashed at the show. Any advice?

    I take a garbage bag and 2 rubber bands in with me. Roll it, wrap it in the bag, then band it. I'm usually standing forthe whole show, so I just stand it on end in front of me. Haven't had one hurt yet.

    I fold it up so it is about 1"x3" and then just wrap the rubber bands around it, and put it in my pocket. They don't even see it. Just a normal kitchen size garbage bag.
