Democratic Sen. Jon Tester held a substantial lead Wednesday morning over Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg in the Montana Senate race — but not quite large enough to declare victory.

With 82 percent of precincts reporting, Tester had 48.3 percent to 45.2 percent for Rehberg. A wildcard was the candidacy of Libertarian Dan Cox, who risked siphoning critical votes mostly from Rehberg. As of 7:30 a.m. ET, Cox was winning about 6.5 percent of the vote.

i feel dirty knowing i directly funded a political campaign. if i had it to do over again, i would have not given a 10 donation for a chance at special seats. i may have also skipped the show. i need a shower

Good.  I'm glad the whole Missoula show and poster did not cost him...

If anything, the show and poster could have contributed to Democratic mobilization 'energy', not compromised the candidate.

Well, the show itself was not a negative.  The poster got some really bad press but I had a sense that it had sort of been forgotten about by fall.  (though I am not in Montana)

The poster deal wasn’t that big here in MT, glad my vote helped him get elected!  I have doubts about the meaninful impact a show like that has when so many people are out of staters

I’m not from Montana either but I was in Missoula in 2012 so I am a tiny bit familiar with Senator Tester’s story. I see that he won by just 5000 or so votes so even though there was many out of staters at this year’s concert the whole Rock2Vote effort could have been the difference especially with DT making four visits to Montana and taking a personal interest in unseating Mr. Tester.
