    Unreal lunchtime haul!

Stopped by Guitar Center to pick up some strings on my lunch break today and saw their vinyl section as I walked to the register. I normally ignore it because it’s all typically overpriced, but I could see some clearance stickers poking out as I walked by, so I decided to stop and thumb through. Got these 7 albums for $45.53. All new, all unopened. Some absolute steals in the bunch. The 2-LP Slash album was 97¢. Insanity.
A Love Supreme is a great album.. nice score there

Found a true NM copy of the original US press for a good price.  Very happy. Look at the shine before I clean her up..

It’s worth a shot! Even the dudes ringing me up were shocked at how cheap they were.

Doors. The Doors. Mono for 50cents. Banged up wax but plays through nicely and skips at the perfect time in 'the end' I thought it was a version I never heard before.

Grateful Dead, American Beauty, Rhino vinyl reissue.

I'm not the biggest  Dead fan but this is such a fine album!  I was about 200 years overdue to have this one.  Superb!

    Dave Grohl ‘Play’ arrived today.
Pretty cool die-cut gatefold sleeve, and the stage set up drawing is etched into side 2 of the vinyl

This is the Newbury swirl,  right? It's cut by Kevin Grey. I received the same two weeks ago.  It's spectacular.  Will also be getting Workingmans Dead too, as it is also supposed to be fabulous.

Yep.  Might nice!  Nice to hear they reissued Workingman's Dead as well. Had the Dead made a few more albums in this vein I would probably consider myself a Dead Head.  But in any case, those are two TOP rate albums!

Just got this marvelous little limited 7" tribute to Juliana Hatfield from American Laundromat records.  (The B side is their cover of "I See You")  Sweet!

  • Here's a vinyl album I designed/art directed (first one I've done - had to fight for the red vinyl). Not relased yet though:

I made my way down to Sacramento today and picked up this most excellent Parlophone reissue of Bowie's Hunk Dory.  Sweet!

I pulled out Consolers and spun it last night.  What a great album.  Now that he's using his own plant and not United, I'm hoping the sonics improve even more.  It's a tough bar because of the quality of the recording, but I think he can squeeze some blood out of it considering United's mediocre, at best, reputation.

Agreed. I usually don't buy an album that I already own, but had to go for this one. Easily a top 10 album for me. Plus, new songs?? Yeah, that made it easy.

I have an original stereo and the reissue mono.  I don't find the mono to be any better and on some songs, I totally miss the speaker-to-speaker play, especially with stuff like "EXP".  What am I missing?

I don't know if you're missing anything.  And you're right on the EXP.  I just like the quality of the reissue and the Newbury Orange.  Hard to find an original at that age, in good condition.

I've picked up quite a few records lately, but the one that has seen the most play is Hovercraft's Stereo Specific Polymerization 10" I picked up from Easy Street for $10.  It was sealed.  Not anymore.
