Elizabeth warren is freakin crazy. She is basically saying if you partied as a kid in high school or college then you can’t be a successful person.

She should stick to the sexual assault issue and stay away from drinking with friends and jokes about doing stupid stuff.

Did she say that? I think she said she can't imagine America wanting someone like that on the supreme court. Being successful and being a supreme Court justice should have two very different bars of what's deemed appropriate behavior.
She’s an idiot either way. She shoulda focused on the sexual assault and not kids drinking in college!!!! The shock of it all!! Who does that????
Then, on Tuesday, an apparently truncated video clip of Judge Kavanaugh giving another speech emerged. Referring to his high school in 2015, he again modified the frequently used cliché: “What happens at Georgetown Prep, stays at Georgetown Prep.”

He added: “That’s been a good thing for all of us, I think.”

Senator Elizabeth Warren, Democrat of Massachusetts, tweeted the video of Judge Kavanaugh making the quip and said: “I can’t imagine any parent accepting this view. Is this really what America wants in its next Supreme Court Justice?”

She's not referring to the drinking; she's referring to the "what happens at Georgetown Prep....." statement, which typically is equivalent to "we'll just ignore any bad behaviour from that time and pretend it never happened", like when people refer to Vegas. Was he admitting to wrongdoing during the clip? Who knows.
It just sounds like he was fishing for laughs...making a stupid joke.  Wonder what every other Supreme Court judge was doing in college, let alone any politician.  Making a big deal out of this is only going to result in the majority of people rolling their eyes.

I took his statement to mean that it doesn't matter what side of politics you are on, sexual behavior has proven to be an issue. I would agree with that.

Has everyone forgotten how Hilary treated women victims in defense of her husband? I mean, come on, to say its a one party issues is ridiculous. They double-downed on that, and it worked. And for everyone who cries out "Why is that important?" every time she is brought up, its because she was the face of the democratic party until the last election, and since no one has stepped up to clearly replace her yet, she still sort of is. This is not a one-issue thing that doesn't illustrate an problem.
This is a problem on both sides, from many politicians, and has been happening for hundreds of years in politics.
I really just dont get the bias in this topic, to pretend one party has issues and not the other.
If you're going to get fired up over it, at least admit its a problem everywhere.

I prefer my people in power to be real human beings that have partied and made some mistakes... not sexual assault of course but the conversation seems to have turned in here.... the last thing I want is leaders to be holier than thou, sheltered, naive, uptight assholes that never cut loose or made a mistake

Didnt Obama admit to partying pretty hard smoking large amounts of weed in high school/college and admit to doing blow when he could afford it? Yeah, what a loser lol

I see what you are saying. But that "stupid joke" can reaffirm for some of those kids that their deviant sexual behaviour or their interest in acting on those desires can shape how they treat women in future situations.

"what happens in x stays in x" refers specifically to sexual behaviour. it isn't just "partying with the boys". the whole connotation is boys/men going to vegas and being "allowed" to cheat on their wives and treat women as sexual objects. everyone knows this. this is not an appropriate joke to make to impressionable youth by an adult in high professional standing.
    Darwinspeed, all.

When its a democrat being accused, republicans can have a pretty strong reaction and D's step up in defense.
And when its a republican, its reversed.
Its just politics on both sides.

Really? That is quite a jump. Last time I was in Vegas I saw just as many female tourists as male tourists. So now having sex is equal to treating women as sexual objects? Lol

Trump just might win a 2nd term if this is where we are at.

Just throwing it out there that this is not a term that only men use.  I’ve heard plenty of women say “what happens in x stays in x”.  Hell, that used to be on every Vegas commercial out there and was not specifically about infidelity, but more about letting your “freak flag fly”.  I still believe this is being blown out of proportion and will be used to mock those throwing a hissy fit about it.
I’ve heard people say “what happens at a Pearl Jam concert stays at a Pearl Jam concert” in joking...but I never took that to mean that people wanted to fuck a bunch of people and not face the repercussions...

Really? That is quite a jump. Last time I was in Vegas I saw just as many female tourists as male tourists. So now having sex is equal to treating women as sexual objects? Lol

Trump just might win a 2nd term if this is where we are at.
women and men interpret that slogan differently. and I'm getting a bit tired of the "if this is where we're at, Trump will win again" BS.
    Darwinspeed, all.

Let me guess, you are too #Ptape.
True. But I’m not rolling my eyes at the Kavanaugh nomination and allegations nor supporting Ted Cruz.
Um...good for you?  Sorry, I’d offer a cookie, but I’m all out #Ptape
Just going to point out that you just validated the irrelevance of the “you must be a white male” statement.

I wonder if you’d feel differently if your wife, daughter, mother admitted to you that they were held down with their mouth covered and forcibly groped against their will at a high school party in the past? Hmmmmm.

Didnt Obama admit to partying pretty hard smoking large amounts of weed in high school/college and admit to doing blow when he could afford it? Yeah, what a loser lol
except Obama wasn't accused of sexual assault while doing it.  Kavanaugh was accused of sexual assault and is saying that it's good that what happened in high school is kept quiet by his classmates. that doesn't raise a red flag for you?

Of course, I dont support kavanaugh or sexual assault in anyway. I was commenting of the issue being raised by some now that partying is a bad thing for future leaders.

I do think people are making way too far a leap to assume saying "what's happens here stays here" is some way if saying sexual assault is ok... that's a ridiculous leap and assumption for me

You guys never has a group of friends you partied with that you felt safe getting out of line with because you knew they wouldn't gossip about it, or that it would "stay there"? I mean c'mon folks, lighten the fuck up. I have never sexually assaulted anybody but I have definitely gotten out of line partying having a good time with friends and I'm glad we keep it amongst ourselves. But if course now everyone wants everyone to be so pure and perfect, except for themselves of course

I wonder if anyone else on the Supreme Court ever partied in college....I’m going to file this under “I don’t give a shit”.
Do you give a shit about his $200K debt that mysteriously disappeared? Or his perjured testimony? How about a potential gambling problem? Does that bother you?
I care about the potential sexual assault and perjury for sure. Drinking in high school or college? Not relevant.
Bragging about debauchery and saying things like, “what happens at Georgetown Prep stays at Georgetown Prep,” May be fine for being the CEO of a large, foreign funded real estate firm but I personally prefer that my Supreme Court Justice nominees have and exhibit a little more character. The world is not a frat party and particularly as they sit in judgement of lower court decisions that can impact my life or that of women. He’s a partisan hack and someone who acts and conducts himself with an air of the rules don’t apply to him.

You care that he’s a republican nominee. If this was an obama nominee his drinking and joking wouldn’t be a problem for you.

Was Slick Willy convicted? Isn’t that what we’re hearing now? “Innocent” until proven guilty? Further, my argument isn’t that one side or the other doesn’t commit sexual assault as its non-partisan. My argument is that one side is better than the other in how they address it, deal with it, react to it. If there’s going to be change, both sides need to change and had Team Trump Treason done it’s due diligence, Kavanaugh wouldn’t be their nominee. It’s not like he’s the only conservative judge that could be elevated. One side currently wants to “roll their eyes.” I say the FBI investigates and let the chips fall where they may. And if Kavanaugh is “innocent,” Why is he spending days prepping with White House attorneys for his testimony? Is it to get the questions before hand? To get his story straight? To look good and convincing on tv? Without a thorough and proper FBI investigation that hearing is a sham. But let’s accept it because “both sides do it.” Not.

Exactly, and it is painfully obviously that this is what’s going on here.

But if course now everyone wants everyone to be so pure and perfect, except for themselves of course
you're not accused of sexual assault and you are not in line for the Supreme Court.  big difference
Take out the sexual assault....... I have no issue with this guy getting drunk in high school or college or as an adult.... just like I had no problem with Obama smoking weed and doing coke....

You guys realize that doesn't mean i support Kavanaugh, right?

It really becomes more of a question of lying.  If he would have come out and said "look I was a kid and I was blasted and while I don't think her version is 100% accurate I may have drunkenly forced myself upon her...I regret that I did that as a child", then maybe we wouldn't be so concerned.

If it happened then he is intentionally lying.  That doesn't work.

bullshit. I don't think his joking about being debaucherous is a deal-breaker on its own. but it seems to be a pattern of behaviour/mentality that he is impressing on our youth as a person of authority.

did obama smoke weed in college? yes. did he make a speech about it making light of it to a group of graduates? no.

no one has an issue with his behaviour (the drinking). I personally have an issue with him encouraging said behaviour in a speech to young adult. and since he was vague about it, it's up for interpretation, which is actually more dangerous to impresionable minds than explicily stating what he did.

Let me guess, you’re a white male?
Let me guess, you are too #Ptape.
True. But I’m not rolling my eyes at the Kavanaugh nomination and allegations nor supporting Ted Cruz.
Um...good for you?  Sorry, I’d offer a cookie, but I’m all out #Ptape
Just going to point out that you just validated the irrelevance of the “you must be a white male” statement.

I wonder if you’d feel differently if your wife, daughter, mother admitted to you that they were held down with their mouth covered and forcibly groped against their will at a high school party in the past? Hmmmmm.
Or if she was raped in a hotel room?

Both sides folks, stop with the partisanship on this issue, it's not a good look. Any of you denouncing the scumbag Slick Willy?
Kavanaugh hasn't been convicted either... don't care, that's not the point and certainly not the defense I would make for this POS....

Your argument is bunk, brother. Democrats didnt defend Clinton tooth & nail? Didn't excuse his behavior? Didnt minimize his behavior? Didnt attack or smear his accusers???Yes they have, for almost 30 years now. Both sides, bro.

you can't take out the sexual assault. that is what could be covered up by 'what happens at Georgetown Prep stays at Georgetown Prep'. I give 2 shits he drank in hs or college. the alleged sexual assault is why the line comes across as a bad line.

many of us have, yes. the thing of it is, people push back against this argument when it is brought up just as a whataboutism. I would have no issue with clinton being brought to justice for all the women that accused him. he seemed to get off scott free.

most of us agreed with al franken's resignation. he was grossly inappropriate with that sleeping woman. he resigned and apologized as he should. can you imagine if obama had ENDORSED him after that came to light if this had happened during his presidency?
