ARMS ALOFT IN ABERDEEN

I'd just like to thank Pearl Jam for turning me onto the original of the recent live cover they've been doing over here in Europe.
I absolutely loved the performance of the tune at Hyde Park.
Although I used to dip into The Clash once in awhile, I'd never properly listened to Strummer & The Mescaleros. On the strength of hearing Pearl jam doing the cover I went out and bought Streetcore and cannot believe what I've been missing.
Buy it, and expand your horizons.

    You should dip even further.

Streetcore is probably the most commercial release he had, but indeed, it's fantastic ... give Global a Go Go a spin. He really explores a world music style on this one, from a straight forward rock song like Johnny Appleseed to some eastern influenced songs like Bhindi Bhagee and Mondo Bongo. I'm a huge fan of the song Shaktar Donetsk, great stuff.

Honestly, you should watch "The Future is Unwritten" ... the documentary about his life, so much of it is about his pre and post Clash life ... the post Clash "walk into the abyss" and rediscovery is an amazing tale and it's beautifully told.

Interesting that some people comment on Arms Aloft in 2018 slows the show Momentum. That the crowd isn’t into it. I personally love the song. But I myself noticed the crowd lose its bounce in Missoula during the song.
I feel like Ed really wants the crowd to get into it. Maybe it does better in Europe.

Love Arms Aloft.   Did it really kill the mood of PJ20 night 1?

No. That's a bunch of bullshit. Place was hyped beyond belief. These set list analysts are too busy in their heads and not living up the moment at shows.

I can only speak to Missoula 2018. I was stoked to hear it. I simply think most people didn’t know the song.

Place was hyped beyond belief during that incredible version of Release, but things definitely came back down when they went into Arms Aloft....it's a good song, but was definitely a weird spot in the set for it.  Having said that, PJ20 was still one of the best weekends ever....went down a rabbit hole on youtube the other night watching a bunch of videos.  Release the boots!!!
