McCready slide guitar

I’m a big fan of slide guitar. I have two different questions/discussions about it:

1) I love Mike’s slide guitar playing. He doesn’t do it much. Red Mosquito. Rats. Thin Air. Can you think of others?
I was a little bummed that he chose not to play slide on Thin Air at Seattle 2.

2) Who are your favorite slide players?
I really like these guys playing slide:
Duane Allman
Dickey Betts
Rich Robinson
Mick Mars
Warren Haynes
David Gilmour
Mick Taylor

Ry Cooder! I can’t believe I forgot him. I just saw him 7/17/18 in Portland. Phenomenal.

My brother always raves about Sony Landreth. I guess I better check him out. Any specific recommendation?

I honestly think Mike is pretty not good at slide.

The discussion begins and ends with Derek Trucks as far as I'm concerned

Derek Trucks is definitely great. I saw him when he was 16 in Knoxville, TN. He was wearing a Beavis and Butthead shirt and just shredding it. With Col. Bruce Hampton.

But the discussion certainly doesn’t begin and end with him. My problem with him is that every time I see him in recent years, he bores me. Too melodic. No balls. Great tones, and creative. Just no balls. And his period with the All an Brothers was really disappointing.

I was being somewhat facetious, I just consider him the greatest living (and probably ever) slide player. Landreth, Duane, Lowell George, and Johnny Winter all come to mind.
Also pretty sure Gilmour was pedal steel not bottleneck slide

    Cool, I respect Derek Trucks.
Gilmour? Come on. He played pedal steel on “One of These Days”. That’s about it.
I like his bottleneck very much on:
    Seamus
    Pillows of Wind
    Embyo
    Atom Heart Mother
    Echoes
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (the second part)
    .....and others

Little Feat with Lowell George at the helm is one of the most underrated bands of all time. Easily one of the top slide players of all time. https://youtu.be/sDF4x1ICbkY
