    Slowmatose was painful though.
    Slowmatose

And yeah, it was just kinda... awkward sounding.

Blood is still great. Do I prefer when Ed could absolutely scream his ass off?....of course but I never want it to be retired and want to hear it every time I see PJ. It’s still heavy as fuck and awesome live. Every time.

Yeah, Blood is a beast when Ed can sing it. So much funk to it. I especially line when he draws out that middle part with the improvs.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I think Eddie's intent in the song is to shred his vocals. Clearly not sustainable.

That being said, I don’t mind the current version. Slowmatose was painful though.
Just curious, why was it so bad?  Clearly, I wasn't there...  Arrangement?  Or his voice?
Comatose to me is meant to be played FAST. They slowed it down to what felt like half tempo and it killed it.

My only complaint over the two nights.
Gotcha, similarly sometimes I don't like it when they speed up certain songs.  Thanks

Yeah agreed - Even Flow and SOLAT are too fast/poppy for me compared to the earlier versions. I’ll certainly take them over nothing, but yeah wish they would slow those instead of Comatose. :)

Las time he belted it out.

Great version. Also really good video/audio quality. Thanks for sharing.

Blood is amazing to hear live. Then replaying it on the bootleg is painful.

he’s been struggling with it for years.

i still give him credit for it lesst trying. He probably even knows it sounds terrible.

It does sound worse on some boots I have than it did when I heard it live.

The version of blood from the orpheum in 1994 is insane.

Ed screaming like a madman, Dave A's drums, the noodley improv in the middle section and super satisfying ending.

Go listen to it and forget any other version exists. :-)

You mean this otherwordly version :)

I absolutely love the middle improv and the sound of just Dave's drum with a very light guitar here and there when Ed is waiting to come back in. It's like the drum is the heartbeat for everyone in that audience getting their face rocked off.

More so since the '06 tour it seems. Ed used to improv things all the time, but now I feel like it's way less or it's the same improv, which kind of defeats the point of an improv. I remember first listening to that version of Blood from the '94 show and I had it cranked in the weight room and then he started doing that panting/heavy breathing in to the mic and I was like, uh, I should probably turn this down before someone wonders what's going on in here.

that's why they should've played Dirty Frank in that spot instead or instead of Life Wasted.

New Orleans 95 was the best version I have ever heard live.... Mike totally destroyed his guitar and Ed almost beat a hole in the stage floor. He proceeded to beat his mike stand until it was U-shaped and then spun around and got tangled in the mic cord and almost fell into the drums. That shit unfortunately can't be duplicated nowadays. However, it is one of my wife's fave songs so I am glad they played it in Boston instead of RVM or Porch to close the first set.

  • I don't think anyone is under the illusion that he can sing it like he did back in the day, I can't say it really bothers me though, it's not a song that really requires perfect or faithful to the original vocals.  So long as he can still sing Release like he does, I still say he's the best rock singer around :)
