..... I'm not saying I have any desire to do it in this case right now.... but dying doesn't preclude someone from criticism, especially not when it comes to politicians. I know some balk at this, but I don't think those who do it deserve to be insulted for it. At least not if the criticism is valid.
Valid criticism, sure - health status doesn’t protect someone from valid and factual criticism. That’s very different from personal attacks and celebration of someone’s illness or death.
    Certainly (in most cases, anyway).

I prefer to avoid another 30 day ban so this is all I will add.
I don't understand or appreciate whatever point you are trying to make here.
I have a family member battling brain cancer, it is an awful, awful disease that affects the entire family.
Making the decision to stop treatment is an extremely difficult decision for a family to make.

It is called an update to a news story about a sitting US Senator.  Take it up with the NY Times if it bothers you so much.  This is a political forum about politics and discussion on a person that has made many important decisions that the World needs to deal with.

I'm not suggesting McCain doesn't deserve some criticism.  But implying those criticisms while placing that with a  link to an article that is only about someones dying days- really?  What would anyone do that?  To my way of thinking that is beyond tasteless.  The only exceptions to that would be if the person were someone truly horrible like Hitler, Idi Amin or Ho Chi Min, maybe, but McCain?  That's low.

Just remember to keep it classy. It's possible to criticize someone's politics and things they've done in their lives without savaging them personally, especially on their deathbed. There are many things in someone's life...some very honorable, some abhorrent to someone with the opposite opinion. Just keep it on the high road....thank you.

I for one feel really bad for him and his family, and it seems like he's been dealing with the whole thing pretty well. I won't go as far to say that he truly redeemed himself in recent months, but I'll give him credit for taking a stand against some of the bullshit going on under Trump; I think it actually has had a positive impact. I wish more would follow his example. I have definitely wondered if he mustered the guts to do this because he literally had nothing to lose with a brain tumour, and if he would have towed the party line more if he had remained healthy and was still concerned about the future of his political career ... But I guess that doesn't really matter anymore.

McCain hates Team Trump Treason with every fiber of his being. Team Trump Treason wouldn't have survived bailing out of his jet fighter, nevermind the 5 years in captivity, if he could have avoided washing out of basic and having the discipline and physical stamina to fly jets off of aircraft carriers. Maybe its McCain returning to Vietnam when Clinton re-established relations that has Unsung so angry? He's never fully explained his hatred for the man, not that I've been able to discern, anyway.

I despise warmongers.  He was King of the Warmongers.

His politics directly led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, if not more.

Bob Dylan wrote a song on the topic, perhaps you have heard it.

    Hope that clears it up.

Oh, I do credit him with one thing and that being the first time I ever voted 3rd party.

    There, I said something nice.

But certainly he's not the only one. He couldn't do it alone. Why not hate all the others who voted for or supported war and the war machine? As vociferously as you do for McCain?

I just came here to say f*©k John McCain

    Should have resigned months ago
Brought us Sarah Palin, which draws a direct line to our current celebrity president
Has enjoyed a lifetime of tax payer funded healthcare, extending his life well beyond its worth, while simultaneously denying the same benefits to his fellow citizens

Now he enjoys the comfort of being the 'voice of reason' on his deathbed. Where was that spine the rest of his political career?

At least he had the decency to admit that the Sarah Palin move was a terrible mistake... But damn, how did he not know that at the time? Everyone else did. And given the long term impact that one move had... it just makes it so much worse.
I have to agree about the spine thing..... But if I'm feeling generous towards a man who's dying, I'll say better late than never?

I just came here to say f*©k John McCain

    Should have resigned months ago
Brought us Sarah Palin, which draws a direct line to our current celebrity president
Has enjoyed a lifetime of tax payer funded healthcare, extending his life well beyond its worth, while simultaneously denying the same benefits to his fellow citizens

Now he enjoys the comfort of being the 'voice of reason' on his deathbed. Where was that spine the rest of his political career?
Is he not married to one of the beer heiress's ... so it not like he even needed the taxpayer funded benefits...

I give McCain credit, he battled brain cancer for 11 years, not an easy feat.

I despise warmongers.  He was King of the Warmongers.

His politics directly led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, if not more.

Bob Dylan wrote a song on the topic, perhaps you have heard it.

    Hope that clears it up.
Bob would probably like this song to.  Maybe not to your liking- don't know but...

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

Do NOT Let Them Make A Saint Of This Asshole

You will be told that you do not have permission to say such things. You have permission to say such things. You will be told that you are being impolite to John McCain’s family. The families of mass murderers are not entitled to our politeness. You will be told that you are making yourself look bad. Creating a world where neoconservative war whores experience an appropriate amount of rejection is more important than looking good. Kill their propaganda narratives with mockery and irreverence and help usher in a new world where it is no longer considered okay to be a psychopathic neocon.

But at the same time you have no qualms over forever separating kids from their parents.

I'm pretty sure carpet bombing Vietnam civilians, never opposing a single war, cheerleading and lusting for more war, overthrowing elected leaders and arming terrorists has caused a few kids permanently separated from their parents. I'm going to guess most of those patents and kids weren't doing anything illegal while they were being "separated".
