    So do people really think using the N-word is worse than sexually assaulting women, or are they just assuming that Trump would think it's worse to use the N-word than admit to sexual assault on tape, or what? Why would using the N-word be the breaking point for anyone?? It wouldn't come close to being the worst thing he's said or done. Not. Even. Close. Don't forget about the little children in cages.
    I find the very idea of him actually resigning over such a thing rather nonsensical, all things considered.

    agree 100%. not sure why people think this is a bigger deal than all the other stuff you mentioned. it's not even in the same universe as grabbing a woman by the vagina against her will. that's beyond nonsensical to me.

    I found it VERY interesting that when Sanders was asked if she could guarantee there was no such tape, she said "i can't guarantee anything". tha'ts unusual for her not to be totally absolutely "THIS IS FAKE NEWS" or some type of deflection. that tells me she knows something, or believes there might be something and doesn't want to be caught later on in a lie. 

    either way, @Gern Blansten, why do you think saying the N word is worse than admitting to sexual assault, at least in the eyes of the public and the eyes of his political peers?

    It's just that the N-word is a known line.  The line in the sand is clear on that, and unfortunately the line in the sand on sexual abuse is not nearly as clear here in America.
    They won't be able to "locker room talk" the N-word away.

    Sadly, it won't even change his approval rating, let alone make him resign.

    I used to hope he'd let one slip.  Now?  I just think it would work toward bringing us further down the path we're on.  The 45% would love it and defend it in the same ways they defend everything else.  The rest would scream in echo chambers or be ambivalent.  Ultimately it would be that the President is able to use that word and still be re-elected.

    The crime of using the N-word might not be worse than all the other stuff but as rgambs points out, that's the one word that is truly taboo.  There's a clear line.  You can get away with being pretty racist; just don't use that term.  The other thing is the phrase "and a tape exists."  As cynical as I am about Trump's popularity, if an assault was on tape, that would hurt him pretty badly.
