Well, some on here would just write that 5 year old death off as the reality of stupid people existing amongst our 325 million population. Just nothing you can do about it. Guns are essential in every day life. Children are expendable youth.
Maybe if you click your heals three times all guns will magically disappear!

Twelve days later, Australia’s government did something remarkable. Led by newly elected conservative Prime Minister John Howard, it announced a bipartisan deal with state and local governments to enact sweeping gun-control measures. A decade and a half hence, the results of these policy changes are clear: They worked really, really well.
Reading through the thread, I was going to post “just wait for the Australia isn’t the US comment”, but lo and behold it’s already here. I guess we just have to do nothing, because no other country is the US.

"Not the same" is such an incredibly weak argument used to dismiss an action that has proven successful elsewhere. Of course the two countries are not the same; when are two situations ever exactly the same? And yet we take examples from elsewhere and apply them to our own situations every day, often with success, especially when we take the time to put some effort in. Are you really going to try to argue that the US has never modeled legislation after another country before?

Australia isn't the U.S. (600,000 weapons were bought back as compared to tens (?) of millions in the u.s.)

So you're saying sweeping gun control measures would do nothing? Absolutely nothing?

    Come on, man.

Hasn’t even been successful on a small scale where it has been tried in the US.

    Happy shooting, Kids!

Isn't it great to have such bright and conscientious leaders in our Senate and across the land!  I will feel so much safer when preschoolers are armed.  God Bless our armed children.

Apple, oranges, blah blah blah.  They're both fruit.  There is just an abundance of one more than the other.  Doesn't mean we should continue to do NOTHING about the apples because the US has more of them than Australia had oranges.

  • Depressing stories full of stupidity.

A member of the well-armed militia agrees to pay another driver $1000 for the damages he caused in an accident... then changes his mind and kills the other driver.

Like... wtf, man? Really? Really? You though that was the solution to your problem?

Bush’s former doctor shot and killed while riding bike in Houston

The suspect was on a bicycle as well. Rode past the doctor, turned and fired two shots. The doctor immediately went down.

Authorities late Friday continued searching for the suspect, who was wearing a gray warmup jacket, khaki shorts and a tan baseball cap.
