iTunes problem

Whenever I try to open my iTunes library, it says "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I've had no problems with it before today. I downloaded the new 5.01 the other day, and it worked fine up until now. Earlier today I removed it, then downloaded it again, but the problem persisted. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Do a search in the AET. There's a ton of support there from members that have some problems with their iPods. Too bad the AET is down. You probably would have had your answer in 15 minutes.
  • Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I didn't find what I was looking for. It has nothing to do with an iPod, I just can't get the damn thing to open.

    bump

this happened to me last night. I googled it and they suggested
Cause 1: QTMovieWin.dll file is missing from the computer
    Solution
Step 1: Search on the Internet and download "QTMovieWin.dll" file to the computer (or users can download QTMovieWin.dll here http://goo.gl/zG6UTM).
Step 2: Copy QTMovieWin.dll file and put it in iTunes setup folder.
    - Windows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    - Windows XP: C: \ Program Files\ iTunes
    * Cause 2: Conflict with QuickTime software
    Solution
If user’s computer installs QuickTime video player, the user needs to disable Direct3D function of QuickTime because this function may conflict with iTunes
Step 1: Open QuickTime, on the toolbar, click Edit -->Preferences --> QuickTime Preferences
i tried both of these and didn't work :( X(

well this sucks.  few days ago i opened up my itunes and all my music was gone.  Luckily the files were still there and all i had to do was copy and paste them to itunes (I think i had around 18,000 songs or so) and everything was fine for a few days.  So i opened up my itunes today and again they were all gone :anguished:
