London O2 - Advice Needed

given2fly23given2fly23 Evanston, IL Posts: 5,877
Coming in just for the July 17 show.  Does anybody have transportation advice or where to stay?  The arena looks like it's hard to get to in terms of walkability.

Thanks!

It's not very walkable at all but it's very easy on a train or bus. So stay somewhere on the jubilee  line I think

Thanks!  Will trains/buses be running after the show?

Should be. This is the official transport website. It should help you plan https://tfl.gov.uk/

We're staying here. Couldn't believe it was available and not too expensive for London either.

It's super easy to get to the o2, just head out on the jubilee line (the grey one) and get out at the North Greenwich stop. You end up right at the end of the concourse to the o2 - you literally can't miss it. You be there within 5 minutes of leaving the tube. There is usually a curfew on show running times that allow people to get back to the tube station in time for the last tube. They will then crowd control you, so you might feel like you're standing in line not moving but don't worry, once you get into the tube you can be anywhere in London quite quickly.

Stay somewhere on the Jubilee line. I like the London bridge stop to be close to Borough Market :) The only hotel really close by is the Intercontinental, I tried staying there and really didn’t enjoy it because the area is a wasteland, there’s nothing there. Hotel itself is great, area not so much. You would have to take the tube or bus to get to anything, there’s nothing within walking distance other than the O2 complex, which does have stuff but are mostly uninspiring chains. And a movie theatre I think.

Tube does stop running at some point before 1am, check the link someone posted above to confirm. But because there’s no opening act, pretty sure it will be fine unless you decide to have some drinks in the area before leaving.

Thanks everyone.  I booked the Best Western Mornington Hotel on the north side of Hyde Park.  There is a train change at Bond Street required but some friends recommended checking out the area so I wanted to stay near there.

If anyone else is staying near there, feel free to get in touch.

Looks like you have a plan but I'll just share in case others are deciding what to do that for the June 18 show I stayed in Greenwich which enabled taking a double decker bus after the show instead of the tube which was great because as thousands of people were waiting for the tube I walked right past all that and directly onto the bus.
