    I am very, deeply saddened to know you have had to deal with ALS on such a tragic level.

    My father is currently battling this disease and we are doing all we can to help bring awareness to those whom this disease affects.

    What steps do you take after the diagnosis, who can you lean on, who can help?

    There are many organizations out there helping families like yours.   (The Joe Martin ALS Foundation in Charlotte.  Team Gleason in New Orleans)

    Again, I know how difficult this disease is and I hope the band gets your message and you can hear them sing this song for Joel.  

    I know it would help you heal.

    For the #ALS community, July 4th holds an additional significance. It’s the anniversary of Lou Gehrig’s 1939 farewell speech. Gehrig’s speech brought national attention to ALS and embodies the bravery and determination of those touched by this awful disease. Today, in addition to celebrating our nation's Independence Day, let us be inspired by Gehrig’s famous words and the fortitude, humility, and courage of  the entire ALS community.
