I'm guessing you're referring to some of the nations listed who are not strong leaders of humanitarian issues? Does that make the council less important or insignificant? I guess my bigger issue is that we keep pulling out of these types of groups where we should be leading the charge for all countries to be involved and championing for change, but we continue to show "America first" by pushing for isolation from the rest of the world. This is 2018. The world may not be flat, but now more than ever we can engage in global trade, labor and communication as if it were flat. Isolation was possible in 1930, not anymore.
Did I say any of that? I just asked the person that stated the US didn’t belong on the council post 9-11 if they had seen the list of countries on the council.
Which countries do you take issue with being on the council?
Man you all are terrific at avoiding answer questions. You should all work for trump. I didn’t say I objected to any, I asked the person that apparently objected to the US being on there if they had seen the list.

I am assuming his point is that there are many countries on that list who aren't exactly well known for their great human rights record, so there is no reason to expect that America not be on it for its own crimes against humanity. Of course, that dismisses the fact that the council doesn't exist for perfect nations - it exists to work towards positive change and improvement... so one could argue that those nations that still have probs with human rights belong on it more than anyone.

You still think the US doesn’t belong on the list with Saudi Arabia, Cuba, and a few others there?  The US is the worst of that list....or would you remove more?

    Busy day.....

someone said the US doesn’t belong on that council.  Based on the list I’m not sure if single the US out if I were deciding on who didn’t belong.  I’m all for including a lot of countries, just think it’s BS to single out the US as the country that doesn’t belong.

I think it’s BS that Tough Guy, Tough Negotiator, Everbody’s Our Bitch Team Trump Treason quit because of criticism from countries on a committee that votes on non-binding resolutions. Whaaaaaaaaa, you criticized Israel so we’re quitting (arms crossed, pouty face, foot stomp). Fucking snowflakes, that Administration.

I would say that the US singled itself out, by quitting. When and if Albania quits we can all throw shade on them or not, as we choose.

I could certainly argue other nations should not be on the council... but i've had a nice front row seat here in America post 9/11, and yes, we might just take the cake... off the top of my head, in no particular order

    1. Iraq invasion based on lies slaughtered 1+ million
    2. Widespread torture authorized by the oval office
    3. Black rendition sights, literally kidnapping and disappearing people
    4. Guantanomo, people held YEARS without charge or trial, which still has prisoners there
    5. Mass incarceration with worlds highest prison rate
    6. Widespread police brutality
    7. Trump administration policies towards refugees & immigrants
    8. Unjust laws targeting LGBTQ community
    9. Warrantless wiretapping and widespread privacy violations
    10. Do I really need to keep going?

    Can you top that?

one million deaths for the Iraqi invasion seems very very high.

It's exaggerated a bit. Should be more around the half million mark, which isn't any less atrocious. Really impossible to know for sure though. A lot is based on estimates and the difference between current and previous timeframes death rates during non-US involvement.

Of course, that dismisses the fact that the council doesn't exist for perfect nations - it exists to work towards positive change and improvement... so one could argue that those nations that still have probs with human rights belong on it more than anyone.
    Busy day.....

someone said the US doesn’t belong on that council.  Based on the list I’m not sure if single the US out if I were deciding on who didn’t belong.  I’m all for including a lot of countries, just think it’s BS to single out the US as the country that doesn’t belong.
I would say that the US singled itself out, by quitting. When and if Albania quits we can all throw shade on them or not, as we choose.
Thar has nothjng to do with the statement. Nothing at all.

    Spot on !!!!

What a joke, we're pulling out of the UN Human Rights coalition because of other countries bias against Israel while we're creating kiddie prisons at the borders. Fuck you USA.

US leaving UN Human Rights Council -- "a cesspool of political bias."

I would normally be appalled...but after giving it thought, post 9/11 America does not deserve a seat on the human rights council
Have you seen who is on that council?

    yes, why?
You still think the US doesn’t belong on the list with Saudi Arabia, Cuba, and a few others there?  The US is the worst of that list....or would you remove more?
I could certainly argue other nations should not be on the council... but i've had a nice front row seat here in America post 9/11, and yes, we might just take the cake... off the top of my head, in no particular order

    1. Iraq invasion based on lies slaughtered 1+ million
    2. Widespread torture authorized by the oval office
    3. Black rendition sights, literally kidnapping and disappearing people
    4. Guantanomo, people held YEARS without charge or trial, which still has prisoners there
    5. Mass incarceration with worlds highest prison rate
    6. Widespread police brutality
    7. Trump administration policies towards refugees & immigrants
    8. Unjust laws targeting LGBTQ community
    9. Warrantless wiretapping and widespread privacy violations
    10. Do I really need to keep going?

    Can you top that?
one million deaths for the Iraqi invasion seems very very high.

300k, 500k, 1m.... doesn't matter, not sure we can honestly fathom what any of those numbers actually look like... the invasion was based on lies, 1 death would have been an atrocity

We aren't even talking long term consequences throughout the region... does ISIS happen? Does Syria happen? Etc, etc, etc

Who's counting anyway, "we don't do bodycounts"

    Bad.
How low to get personal, it is very childish for a man in charge of a country.
I've never seen that kind of schoolyard bullyboy behaviour from a world leader.
I felt attacked as I have long hair haha.

Sure it does. People commented on the US’s appropriateness for a seat at that table only because it chose to withdraw. Comments about the US don’t require a report card on all the other nations and how they compare.
