"As sure as Kilamanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti"
Quite possibly the dumbest yet most awesome lyric ever.

Lyrically, the entire song makes no sense. But almost everyone alive in 1982 knows all the words to it.

    Cocaine's a helluva drug.

Sometimes being catchy as hell is all a song needs to be great, lol.

Beck is a great example of this.  Just put a bunch of words together that make no fucking sense whatsoever, but put an awesome beat behind it.  I can write a Beck song, it's just nonsense:

Pink phone junkie with a gravity head
Purple monkey sleeps in a cartoon shed
The nose knows better than retractable pens
Dirt job trucker hat and broken lens

    Tom Petty: Walls
    Avett Brothers: Distraction #74
Otis Redding: These Arms of Mine
Not sure if you meant Walls - Circus or Walls (No. 3), so I added both. :)

I believe they are the same song with different arrangements. You can't have too much Tom Petty IMO.  =)

i agree!  Whenever I try to get 3 songs (or several groups of 3 songs), I feel like I'm leaving out one of my best friends. And there are songs that are current favorites, standard all time favorites and favorites from various parts of my life. So I complicate the hell out of a fun thread. I like seeing others answers also. Thanks Pap!!

Would it be a waste of my time to compile all these in a spotify playlist? Or are there people who would enjoy that?
That's a great idea! :lightbulb: I'd very much enjoy it, though I don't have a Spotify account...
Alright, done. :) You should make a Spotify account - you can sign up for free... although I have no idea what restrictions there are for playlists on the free version, so I'm not totally sure you'll be able to access this without a paid account (can someone let me know?). But give it a shot! It's a great playlist (for the most part, haha ;) ). I'll keep adding to it as you folks add to this thread (multiple choices/posts from one person is great). I won't add repeats, but otherwise I'll do my best. Once in a rare while the selection isn't available. In those cases I'll try to find a decent tribute/cover version or something.

I am a follower and I have this playlist downloading right now - Jethro Tull and Led Zep seem to show up the most; as I scanned the whole list. Very Cool!
