Okay, so I am now for the banning of all guns.  There has to be a way for homeowners to feel safe though.  Perhaps a stun gun or some other type of weapon that absolutely can't be used for a mass shooting.

If you want to go hunting, then you can go through a background check, and rent a gun for the hunting trip.

I haven't thought through all the scenarios, but this is beyond ridiculous at this point.  To those on this board that want to take no action, you are disturbed individuals and you may not even know it.  It was like when I was collecting Pearl Jam vinyl and trying to get every color, I didn't realize at the time how stupid that was.

Like PJsoul said earlier, the fix won't come for several generations, but we need to start now.  Like with climate change, we can't change climate today or tomorrow, but we can make changes that can impact 50 years from now.

“Nobody is saying ban all guns”.  Bootlegger is saying “ban all guns” for reference, lol
You and your gun owner buddies fucked it up by supporting mass shootings.

The last people I want to have guns are people who see repeated mass shootings and choose to take no action.  They are monsters  and they don’t realize it.

I was okay with gun ownership a couple years ago.  I never would want to own one myself but understood the reasons people would want to own one.

But listening to you gun nuts not want to give a damn inch has made me 100% change my opinion and I say take all the guns.  If you can't compromise just a little bit to try to save some kids' lives than I'm sorry, you blew it.  Let's get some legislation to take all of your guns you self-absorbed, uncaring, and scared scared scared scared scared scared scared scared people.

Are you bitching about the gun owners on AMT or gun owners in general?

I'm pretty sure just about everyone on AMT is on board with instituting some changes. We don't all agree on what those changes would look like, but no one is in support of mass shootings or murder.

Maybe dialing back your personal drama and trying to help find that common ground we all desperately need would be more useful than saying gun owners are all ok with the killing of children.

When asked if surrendering assault rifles (including his) would assuredly result in no new mass shootings, one poster on here said, 'no thanks... he prefers freedom.'

Gun owners have much to account for. Not all are idiots, but I would venture to say if you support the NRA after all they have said, done and spewed... you are complicit in the American epidemic.

We have been ready to compromise.

It is like when two kids are fighting over the same toy.  The parent says you need to share it or I am taking the toy away.  Well, you won’t compromise so we are going to take the toy away.

Personal drama?  I'm just calling it like I see it.  What I see is one side is ready to make changes (any fucking changes) and the other side stops any changes from happening.

Typical gun owner: "Another mass shooting at a school.  Hmmn...should we get rid of AR15's so we can at least remove some guns.   I know I don't have an AR15 because I don't think an army is going to come to my house and I can't use it for deer hunting, but then again if I agree to ban AR15's they could eventually come for my rifle.  So, fuck the students I want to shoot deer on the weekend because somehow shooting an animal in an unfair fight brings me joy."

You don't even need a rifle to hunt... a few friends of mine prefer to bow hunt, I have a little more respect for that honestly

Bootlegger is frustrated for good reason...

I've seen a pro-gun poster flat out say "no compromise"... that may be just one poster but he definitely represents the ideals and mentality of a LOT of the pro gun 2A crowd

Well now... let's be honest about the other more staunch proponents of gun ownership: there's not one in these parts that haven't made lame references to banning things like vans or knives at various times throughout the life of this debate. Further, when damning evidence is presented (namely the statistics which are irrefutable)... all gun proponents have tried to offer explanations for the grotesque disparities versus admit to the obvious driver.

When such off-handed comments are made and poorly constructed logic is presented, it speaks to the underlying mentality (whether consciously or not) that seeks to preserve the status quo.

There's only been one gun owner on these boards who has publically stated they are surrendering their assault rifle. The rest speak to other measures while clinging to their guns. This is part of the problem.

If you’re a gun owner and are not lobbying against this or voting for candidates that support reasonable firearms policy, we consider you to be part of the problem. The repube party knows no bounds to their hypocrisy. Particularly when it comes to guns. But hey $30 million in Russian financing will do that.

I can think maybe 1 person who doesn’t want more gun restrictions here. Every source I’ve ever seen puts it at 85-90% of gun owners want change.
so where are you getting this idea from? Are you basing this statement from one poster on a single forum and applying it to all gun owners?
And I’ve also seen said many times “no one wants to take your guns”. But your about the 4th or 5th person this week to say so.

Your strategy results in more kids getting murdered at schools.   I like mine better.

so where are you getting this idea from? Are you basing this statement from one poster on a single forum and applying it to all gun owners?
And I’ve also seen said many times “no one wants to take your guns”. But your about the 4th or 5th person this week to say so.
If so many gun owners want more restrictions then why aren't there more restrictions?
A lot of people want weed legalized too.

Let's get some legislation to take all of your guns you self-absorbed, uncaring, and scared scared scared scared scared scared scared scared people.

your solution is to take all our guns?  Seems like a perfect compromise.
We have been ready to compromise.

It is like when two kids are fighting over the same toy.  The parent says you need to share it or I am taking the toy away.  Well, you won’t compromise so we are going to take the toy away.
Sounds like a solid political strategy, let me know when, lol
Your strategy results in more kids getting murdered at schools.   I like mine better.
    No. It doesn't.

I can think maybe 1 person who doesn’t want more gun restrictions here. Every source I’ve ever seen puts it at 85-90% of gun owners want change.

That's a bit of a copout to a great question.  We've all seen the polls you point to,  yet nothing happens.  Why do you think that is?

Yup, I've said it before and I will say it again, blood on their hands.
Yup, this is horse shit too.

    Damn. I thought it wasn't.

I mean... if you fortify the NRA and their ridiculous messages by supporting them with memberships... you are behind those messages. Makes sense no?

    NRA NRA NRA!

How many NRA supporters? Maybe 5 million. How many gun owners? Maybe 75-100 million.

The average gun owner doesn't give the NRA shit.

Because elected officials give no shits about the wants of the people that elected them.

    On both sides.
