We're people this critical of weird shit like Happy When I'm Crying? It's still the fan club single, maybe just treat it like that? It's better than a whole lot of those have been in the past.
probably not. we weren't starved for content like we are now. we had them writing the new record (Vitalogy) and performing unreleased songs on tour for a newly released album (Vs). hard to compare those times to now I think.
    Flight Risk out NOW!

Probably "public" release of the track. 10c got an early taste. Can't imagine anything more than that.

Some people in the Facebook comments saying it’s an album drop and Cant Deny Me is the name of it...

You're right. If they were releasing more random shit, and touring way more like they used to and pulling out improvs and shit all the time or whatever, we wouldn't be obsessing over one original annual single like this. It's just that now that they aren't very active in terms of touring or new music, we have too much attention built up focusing on too little material, lol. The only cure would be for everyone to tone down their fandom, haha.... or for the band to produce and tour way more! ;)

I'm inclined to agree with this.  I've never written a song or know how writing credits actually work, but I would assume if a sole band member is credited as the songwriter, he probably came up with the main rhythm and/or melody then the intricacies were worked out amongst the others.
In my band, whoever is on the recording gets songwriting credit when we're putting the stuff up on CD Baby. There's generally 3 of us on most of the songs, and whoever had the original idea gets that much sought after 34% instead of the 33% that the other 2 get. I generally write all of the lyrics, but even on the songs where one of the other guys came up with the original idea for the music, I still just take 33% regardless of lyrics. So I know we don't operate on the same level as Pearl Jam, or anything near it, but it just seems fair for us to stick together.

Sounds like a slowed down version of Big Wave.  I like it!

People seem to be unable to just enjoy this thing for what it is, a new song by the band that we all love. Let's just wait and see what they do next.

I usually play the music on my phone playlist on 'random' so I don't know what's coming next. Can't Deny Me sounds pretty good when you're not expecting it.

On the rock station WJRR in Orlando they played the "New Pearl Jam song!" and mentioned the home and away shows. To me that means a new album. Anyone else heard it on the radio?

Second take - spun it about 5-6 times then listened to Mind Your Manners since someone noted it was “like a slower version of MYM”.

The beer goggles are off - MYM is a far superior track and exposes Can’t Deny Me for the demo that it is. This can’t be a finished track, right? There’s no way BoB touched this. And where the hell is Mike? Don’t need a solo, just some fill or anything. I like CDM but it doesn’t feel finished to me, and definitely kicks far less asses than MYM.

Been listening to this for awhile, after finally hearing and feeling it after countless plays, it's turned into the same observation that all music does for me. I make it my own. Everybody wants it to be so passionate about Trump, politics, etc. Obviously that's an understandable message. Sometimes when you let a song reflect on your own personal life, shit can take a different meaning and make it even more personable and enjoyable. We all find our own meaning in music, but we all hear the same sound. Right on, love hearing some new PJ.

So nothing yet, is it crazy to think their might be something more coming? This would be an incredibly strange way to just drop a random single. Maybe an larger announcement?

Their tweet they made saying 'Can't Deny Me. Tonight.' makes me think something else is coming. I agree it does seem like an odd way to release a single. Maybe their tweet just means the single is being released to the public, but I'm crossing my fingers for an album announcement in the near future.

just now heard it for the first time. it's not terrible. definitely not as bad as people on the facebook pages make it out to be.

had to listen on my phone so it is not going to sound great. would love to hear it on my home setup.

it isn't what i was expecting, but could be cool in a live setting. seems like it can be a throatshredder for ed though.
