It's a stupid device for stupid people. How much more lazy do these tech corporations want us to become?

no, its about data collection. for ad sales initially, but also to have you more used to intensive invasive surveillance.

those fucking things are ALWAYS listening

It's a stupid device for stupid people?

Omfg.  Cannot believe I read that.
    Some pretty stupid comments here.

Looking at your phone or watch to check the weather is still using tech to make things more convenient.  Using that as example of being lazy doesn't really hold up.

Why not head over to the Gateway PC and dial up onto MSN.com and look up the weather.
Because that is slower and technologically extinct.

How about get the newspaper and look it up?
Wtf gets a newspaper these days?

What about you watch the local news and see what the "meteorologist" has to say so that you can decide what to wear tomorrow?
Watching the news for local weather is something 80 year olds do.

I do think that the Amazon or Google spying concern is legitimate, of course, but utilizing tech to do things easier and faster does not make someone stupid nor lazy.

Yes it does. Why not check your weather app or go online. Why not go outside.

You used examples of checking online and or watching the morning news.  No effort involved with either of those things to equate to not being lazy.
Going outside is great for the weather now...but why wouldn't you want to know what the weather is going to be like later?
Does making everything available stop many people from learning facts or math or phone numbers?  Sure....but the phones do the same thing.

My mom loves hers (not sure which device but if not that in particular, similar).  I see its benefits for making the life of her 86-year-old self a bit easier...but when it mis-hears her or otherwise fucks up, it's hilarious.
