15 Years!!! Proposal for an Acoustic Opening Set for Wrigley

edited February 2018 in The Porch
I'm sitting here Friday night after work with a glass of wine reliving some of the 2003 tour. Release opener at Penn State with an unreal rendition of Betterman/Save it for later. A Holmdel Hunger Strike that can make a middle aged tough guy choke up. On to that acoustic Mansfield set....biting lower lip skunk face.

I think another Acoustic set is in order for Wrigley. Late Summer sun going down with a gentle breeze flowing through the ballpark as Eddie opens with Arc!!

No, he definitely meant to say Wrigley. And I, for one, second that notion.

A ballpark would be the worst venue for an acoustic set.  This is a terrible idea.

The acoustics at Fenway were unreal. Don't agree in the slightest.

Mansfield 7/11/03 was the best show I've ever been to.
I still listen to that acoustic 1st set all the time. It was certainly a warm-up to Benaroya Hall which came in October.
The weirdest thing was after that set, they left the stage so Sleater Kinney could play.
Only time they've warmed up the warm up band.

Great idea and I love that you framed it as a proposal rather than a petition.

I'm all for any acoustic stuff. They've been opening the stadium shows frequently with slower songs to ease into the evening, so it'd make sense to have a few included while people are still trying to get to their seats.

Arc during his solo shows were great. But I think part of that was because the crowd was respectful. Not sure if I'd like to see Arc where 40,000 people are trying to hush each other and you hear drunk fans screaming "AAAHHH LUUUUUUUUHVE YOOOOOUUU EDDDDDIEEEEEEE!" over it.  :)

I don't think they have the testicular fortitude to attempt it again.

I think the acoustic part was by far the best part of the 3 nights, but remember the rest of the show being a bit of a mess. They seemed to be just trying to plow through and rush to get enough songs in.

I still can't believe the place was empty for the acoustic set. We ended up sitting about 10th row center for it. Our actual tickets were a bit further back on the side.
