For no reason.
I was 17. It still makes me feel like i was raped.
I'll never forget.
I'll never compromise.

Only by my best friend in 9th grade and maybe my brother ( we hit each other all over) a couple of times.  I love them both.  Love hurts.

Bummer!  I'm sorry to hear that, Shyner.

I've been violated in other ways, but never hit in the face.

(Trust me, I'd rather that than be raped; I know your feelings / reactions are yours, but not sure if the two are close to comparable.)

been in three fights in my life and all have resulted with punches/kicks to the face.  i have also been hit by an estimated 88 mph fastball to the face and many deflected shots in hockey have ended up hitting me in the face.  all good.

When I was in elementary school a kid threw an iceball at my face and it hit me right between the eyes. It was incredibly painful and I couldn’t see anything but jagged flashes of light for a few minutes. I thought I had gone blind, which freaked me out even more than the pain.

No actual punches to the face, though.

That might be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

I know you are speaking of your own personal experience and I'm very sorry that you went through that. So I'm loathe to question it but I don't see how the two could be comparable. Maybe to you personally they were and only you can speak to that. Generally though, there is a big difference between being a victim of rape and being hit in the face

I have been sexually assaulted and I know I would much prefer being hit in the face!

Yes. My mum hit me with the telescope of a vacuum cleaner and also a cricket bat. As well as slaps over the years.

Given that Americans can't play badminton to save their lives, we're not going to adopt your name. Sorry

I'm not sure I (or anyone else)  have/has the right to criticize any other's own personal experience of being raped vs hit in the face.  It happened to them, not us.

I’m sorry many of you have been violated in this, or much worse ways. Love and healing thoughts to all.

And FWIW, I have been violated many times and while Shyner’s comparison may be offensive at first, people should be able to describe their trauma any way they can. So many can’t speak about it at all.

There has been no judgement at all.  Nor criticism.

But, if the door is opened, expect some to walk through.  Risk taken in opening yourself up to that.

Funnily enough, I am reveling in Release from Wrigley from a couple years ago.

    Which way to go?

Forward.  Even if a bit back now and then.......move on.  If for our own sake.

I don't mind telling stories of my lifetime.
I really don't care what judgement is made.
I think a couple walked through the door just to be seen.
If it makes anyone feel better then heck go for it

I'll keep takin punches till they're(their) will grows tired

Ugh.  Put yourself out there?  Awesome.  It takes balls.

Discount or misinterpret others' responses?  Not so much.  Along with the claim of being judged, when it's been implicitly said it is not.

Maybe the punches you infer aren't even close to what is given, at least beyond your own realm.

Really, please let go.  Ease up on yourself, and then you can extend that to those with whom you speak.

The title changed.  It was originally about getting punched in the face then became a discussion of which was worse- punched in the face or raped.

Yeah, which is completely fascinating and inexplicable to me.

Thanks, RS.  It was actually far from a bad time, was simply responding to what was put out there.  Sometimes attempts to combine compassion with honesty don't come through as intended.
