In an event at New York City’s Gotham Hall on Wednesday, John announced his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, a three-year, five-continent outing that will feature more than 300 concerts, and will be the last of his career. “It’s time to come off the road so I can fully embrace the next important chapter of my life,” he said. “I need to dedicate more time to raising my children.”

    Might have to do one.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Wow!  Elton got a late start on having kids.  But good for him for being responsible that way.  Wish I'd seen him back in the day.

  • i pretty much can't miss this tour. saw him a whack of times over 25years. best show i ever saw was him playing solo piano for almost 3 hours straight, in front of 16,000 fans. that show still amazes me in the fact that he had that presence to command everyone's attention in a large area with no backing band, no major light show, just him the piano and those songs.

What would my name be without this guy?
    I SAW PEARL JAM
  • Definitely going to try and see this. I saw him when he did the tour with Billy Joel back in 2003(?). I surprised my mom that day with tickets. Daughter of the year.  Also, during a Coldplay show in Atlanta back when they weren't all that popular yet, Elton came out and played piano during Trouble. It was amazing, except for the kids behind us who didn't know who he was.

    I'm through with screaming

I hope he comes here and that tickets are less than $300.

What I saw on Ticketmaster outside of his VIP packages, they were $250, $150, and $60. At least for the DC show.

Wow, that is surprisingly affordable actually, considering. I've never seen him and have always wanted to. I'd spend $150 for sure.

  • No Vancouver date. No Seattle date even.

I saw in in Vegas and thought he was great. Fortunately, I'm going back to Vegas in May. I think I'll catch him one more time.

I was at his Moline concert just last year and it was great.  My first time seeing him.  Will definitely try and catch him one more time before he retires.  Great show

We finally caught him last year in Victoria (it's pretty crazy he even bothers to play here).   Decent show, but the crowd sat down alot :)

We had kept putting it off because his tickets are always so expensive, but given how many musicians are retiring or passing away, we pulled the trigger on $200 tickets because the show was local (which is actually not bad when you consider we pay several hundred dollars in travel expenditures to see shows in Vancouver/Seattle).

It's pretty cool the tour is 3 years.... gives everyone a last chance to go.

I thought his partner was from Victoria? Am I wrong?

I have no idea, but if it's true, maybe that explain's why he's played our small city a few times.

Welp, was only able to pull up a single pair of side stage tix in the general onsale for the LA shows, threw them back into the pot. Looks like ill be hoping for a second ticket drop or going the stubhub route.

The last time he played 2 nights at Staples, the promoter was giving away tickets for the 2nd night.....I'd wait for prices to drop on the secondary market.....the shows are a year away, so plenty of time to wait and see what happens.

For sure ill keep my eye on them to come down. If theres anything i know about the secondary market in LA, if you can wait it out especially for weekday shows, u can usually get in dirt cheap.

So I guess all venues are sold out.  I forgot about it.  Just now went to TM and it sends me to re-sale tickets.  TM doesn't even show the St. Louis show.

Damn, I'd love to see him play!
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is the soundtrack of my childhood.  That album takes me back to memories so early they are just a blurry feeling, and somehow it still sounds fresh and relevant.  Just thinking about it I can smell the coal smoke and feel the rough texture of the carpet under my toddler hands.

Anyone go to see this tour yet? What is the stage set up like? Looking to get some tickets off of Stubhub for my mother for the Quebec show but wanted to make sure there were no obstructions for her. The tickets I am looking at are on the 200 level on the immediate side of the stage.

Edit: I see there is a pretty large screen set up so maybe not the best of seats.

I’m going to try to score tickets via the TM Verified Fan presale tomorrow. Hope it works.

  • the only thing i would have liked is less cheesy las vegas video during a couple of songs(only). i get that he is playing to a lot of grey haired folks who like casinos shows lol, and that he did reside in vegas for a few years doing shows, but imo, the cheese video was a distraction away from how great/powerful the 2-3 songs were. u end up watching the cheese video cause u can't help not to...
having said that. it's a fantastic show. 2.75hours. and every time i see him i am always reminded what a fantastic piano player he is and he had lottsa moments banging the keys like a madman across the water
    go see the show

I was named after him (well, a song of his and him)—I know, @HesCalledDyer , lame!—so I figure I should see him once before he packs it up.
