Tell me about getting rail (or as close as) please!!

I'm leaving my husband and kids for 6 days to catch 3 euro shows, plus 2 London - all GA tickets.  How does the whole waiting in line thing work, because you can't get your tickets until the venue opens right?  So what do you do, wait in line for the venue to open, then get your tickets, then head straight to your chosen spot?  And erm, what about toilet trips during all this time...?!

People will start waiting in line either night before or very early on day of the show. When will call opens for tickets people are good at keeping your place, same for toilet breaks, getting food etc.

If waiting doesn't appeal to you (particularly if you're in an interesting city), turning up just before doors open for 10c tickets gets you about 8 people back Mike's side or 12 back in front of Eddie.

    That’s right.  To get rail.

To get two to four feet behind the rail it is much more difficult.  First, you must sleep in.  Then have a hearty breakfast.  From there travel around the city taking in the sites.  Have a nice lunch.   Come back to your lodging for a quick nap.  Then head to a nearby bar for some pints and conversation.  After that, head over to the venue five minutes before doors open and walk in behind the others and claim your spot four feet from the rail.

And then get crushed when Ed rips into Breakerfall.  ;)

If rail is what you want . . . Line up early.  Put in your time.  Get rail and hang on!  It's a great thing. My husband and I had rail and wine for our first show in Cincinnati.  Good stuff.

GA is 10c only, so that wouldn't matter.

You're solo which makes it tricky as you'll have to do everything yourself but we're a good bunch and your space will be kept for you. As soon as you get in, walk quickly (don't run) and identify a space that you can aim for and good luck.
