Track record could be a yes, but if PJ's touring (like the overlap with his solo shows and the Chicago date) it's all up in the air. Headliner announcements have ranged from a month to a few months before show dates. I'd follow the foundation's email list or Twitter feed for updates.

Boston is probably a no-go, but he did show up at Chicago 2016 without being on the bill.

As for the Chicago show this year, it'll be a week before their Europe tour so it's possible.

Did Ed play the Chicago version of this last year? I don't think so but I can't remember. I was there in 2015 and know he played 2016 as well, but don't think he played in 2017 (believe he was in Europe for his solo dates).

That's what I thought. Think he'll play Chicago on 6/8 before PJ heads out to Europe? Seems unlikely but you never know.

I dont think its too far fetched. Cubs are home so he could catch a couple games before he heads to Europe

Tickets still available. Could see them announcing Ed as headliner as event draws closer.

He dropped in on PJ Harvey's show in 2016 without being billed, but not sure if he'd make an appearance 4 days before the Europe tour kicks off.

He's played some iteration of Hot Stove (Chicago or Boston) the last 3 years (15-17) and didn't play the Boston show this year. So maybe he will play Chicago to keep the streak going?

I wish I knew the answer. If I did I would definitely buy a ticket. Not knowing keeps me on the fence.

I live in the Chicago burbs & just wanted to chime in. My wife & I saw Ed in Chicago in 2016 after Liz Phair played, great time & venue - Smashing Pumpkins' Jimmy Chamberlain played drums for Ed, it was EPIC!  In 2016 the show was heavily advertised on WXRT radio and there were mentions of surprise guests but E.V. was never mentioned and showed up.  P.J. played Wrigley later in the summer and of course the Cubs won the World Series. Ed was all over Wrigleyville that summer!
Strangely, there have been very few mentions or details on local station WXRT about this year's show. (One of the WXRT DJ's Lin Brehmer is an emcee of the event w/ Joel Murray.) I don't read too much into it but there is window of 3-4 days before the P.J. Amsterdam gig.  Also, don't forget one of the world's largest airports w/ international terminal is 30 mins away from City.
Like 2016, P.J. playing Wrigley later in the summer and I've got my tickets! It seems so similar to 2016 so I'm hopeful. I bought tickets for the Cubs game and the concert later that evening. Maybe the whole band shows up for a quick tune up before  departing O'Hare for Amsterdam??? now that would be something! Charity event and a fun time so it's all good with me either way. Also worth mentioning. If you are in Wrigleyville for the PJ shows or Hot Stove, check out the new barbecue place called "Smoke Daddy", I had lunch before a Cubs game a few weeks back & it was killer!

Yeah we're definitely going. Even if no Ed, it's still a great time, especially if you're a baseball fan. Lots of current & former players/coaches will be in the house at Metro. Jimmy Chamberlain did retweet recently about the event saying "epic" so I'm guessing he'll be there. As it stands now, only like 3 bands are listed to perform, with the Orwells headlining. Seems pretty likely other acts will be added.

After seeing the Cubs homestand info doesn't list a guest for first pitch or the 7th inning stretch that day, I started getting a vibe he might appear. Asked the foundation and they confirmed no additional/special guests this Friday.

Regardless, I'll be there Friday - good organization, good times, always been a fun show.

The non-listing for the stretch on Friday is pretty suspicious, me thinks.

That's a good sign in our favor! I'm hopeful he shows but if not, ill be enjoying the great vibe at Metro as always.
