Bring Back "Street Fighting Man" . . .

I think its time for PJ to bring back their cover of the Rolling Stones, Street Fighting Man! They played it twice in 1994. Both times start off good, but Ed screws up the 2nd verse both times and it ends in a meandering jam. If they actually rehearsed it a few times, it would be rocking! This country and this world seem to be at a boiling point for the past few years. This song is relevant again (guess every few years it becomes relevant). Also, McCready can shred on the Mick Taylor solo runs!
Lyrics:
Everywhere I hear the sound of marching, charging feet, boy
'Cause summer's here and the time is right for fighting in the street, boy
Well what can a poor boy do
Except to sing for a rock 'n' roll band
'Cause in sleepy London town
There's just no place for a street fighting man, No

Hey! Think the time is right for a palace revolution
'Cause where I live the game to play is compromise solution

Hey! Said my name is called disturbance
I'll shout and scream, I'll kill the king, I'll rail at all his servants

Well, what can a poor boy do
Except to sing for a rock 'n' roll band
'Cause in sleepy London town
There's just no place for a street fighting man, No

Ha. I hear ya. I love long PJ jams but just wish this one was tighter and more driving. Listened to the one that I posted and they did a pretty good job with it, I thought Vedder had screwed up the lyrics but he did alright with it. Maybe I was thinking about the other time they played it. Perhaps that one was more disjointed.

Yeah I agree...like Pry To and
Aye Davanita when they play Vitalogy in full. I reckon that Aye Davanita would rock!

Bring it on!!!! That sounds fucking awesome. I gonna plug in my Get Your Ya-Ya's  Out CD tomorrow but would love to hear that in Seattle on August 10.

There are no better jams than the ones with Dave A powering it on. Street fighting man, I've got a feeling, porch, etc.

Little wing and maggot brain have Chad Smith on drums, so don't mention that as being a jack irons jam. :-)

Yeah Ya Yas baby! Love that album. Yes indeed, I hope you get it in Seattle. I would just love to hear McCeady shred on this. It would be like Mick Taylor on steroids!

Agree with OP, but also like others have said bring back the jams!  Up through the early 2000's there were always at least a couple per show and these days we can't even get an extended Porch or RVM.  Bring back the jams 2018!

Yea, Chad Smith plays on it. Listen to Eddie's intro. There is also video online. Irons was never that technical or hard hitting of a drummer.

Nice.  Haven't listen to that boot in years. Always love to learn a little something about the band during the early years. Great call evenflow82 and thanks for the post

Pearl Jam Covers The Rolling Stones’ ‘Street Fighting Man’ At Pinkpop. The bust out was the band’s 1st performance of the song since 1994. https://www.jambase.com/article/pearl-jam-rolling-stones-street-fighting-man-cover-pinkpop

Would go see them again if they sold it as an all stones cover show. Sure it sounded great live. Got waiting on a friend and maybe a little jumping jack flash intro with lbc.

This song is a great fit for the band.  I remember they tried to cover Waiting on a Friend a few times, and Ed just can't get his voice in the right place for that song.  This is fantastic though.  Anything off Beggars is a worthwhile venture for PJ.
