What is it with protests that you decide to just be a bunch of slobs?

Occupy, women's march, now this? Clean up after yourselves.

    http://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/mar/1/dakota-access-protest-camp-crews-haul-48-million-p/

Hard to clean up after yourself when you are forcefully evicted at gunpoint.
The women were forced away at gunpoint too?

Let us see what happens March 8. BTW, nice headline speaker they got going there.
You saying it's the women's responsibility to clean up?

Specifically the women should clean up everybody's mess? That's what your posts appear to infer, but I don't think that's what you mean?

giving you the benefit of the doubt, you mean everyone that was left should have cleaned up.

what they are primarily talking about though, is the blockade materials as well as the livinh quaters.

Thankfully obama draconian rules have been repealed so people aren't going to jail anymore for making ponds on their property.

That was waste water from a nearby gold mine that destroyed the Animas River. I'm sure the miners intended to clean it up, but they went out of business in 1991. The free market at work!

Way bigger problem than the Great Lakes algae blooms that will be out of control by the next election!

I love how conservatives are obsessed with people actually exercising their rights as American citizens... they don't want to talk about the issues... they just want to try to belittle the people marching or protesting

funny how things are reported in different places.

main headlines here are the total in gallons spilled. 200,000 to 210,000 gallons vs 5000 barrels spilled.

its all not good. but one makes it seem worse and the other not all that bad.

Several years ago I saw a film in a sociology class that showed footage from two different news sources about one incident incident.  The  two sets of footage were both shot on sight of the incident and were not photo-shopped or doctored in any way, except  by the way the segments were spliced together and edited.  Those two reports gave a distinctly different view of what happened.  It was a great demonstration of how "news" can be altered and/or biased.  Happens all the time.

In Canada it's being reported as 800,000 litres. It's simply a matter of measurement. You're actually feeling bothered because some are using the metric system (the whole world besides the USA), and some are using industry terms?? One does not make it sound better or worse than the other unless you're someone who can't wrap their brain around the concept of measurement units. I am not sure what your point is though... Do you want it to sound bad or less bad? Do you prefer 5000 barrels or 210,000 gallons or 800,000 litres?

We can thank Bonzo goes to Washington (Reagan) for not having completed our once transitioning to metric.  Had Ronnie not stepped in, by now we would be using the much more logical base ten system rather than the stupid imperial system.

so not being sure what the point is you offer your assessment?

not bothered at all. just pointing out a difference in reporting.

Perhaps my tone deserved that. I didn't mean it to come off as snarky as you obviously took it.
It's not a difference in reporting, is it? I was genuinely curious if you brought it up for a reason. I assume you must have had some point in saying that one somehow sounds worse than the other. You seem to have at least been making some comment about the motivations of the media reporting it, right?

  • Been away for a while. Has everyone realized that the anti-pipeline squawk on Canadian oil has been funded by American businessmen who have two major agendas:
    1) ensure Canadian oil doesn't make it to tidewater (because Canada would get more for it overseas)
    2) keep Canadian oil landlocked and therefore piped to US refineries. Because the oil can't get to tidewater and therefore no competition, the US gets Canadian oil at a discount.

All the good people who have legitimate concerns are merely pawns in a high finance poker game.  They have done a great job, killing pipelines to Eastern Canada (for some reason it's "safer" to float huge tankers from the Middle East to those refineries.  I guess it's better to fund regimes with atrocious human rights records) and the Northern Gateway (Trudeau killed that one despite it already receiving approval).
