Looking for a place to put my posters that aren't being framed. Any recommendations would help. Thanks in advance.

I've seen crazy expensive flat files suggested on here, but also some reasonable ones. Let me see if I can dig up those threads.

I got a zip-up portfolio at Michael's (less than $50), and lined both sides with foam core board ($8) to keep it extra solid. Then I just use acid free paper or the stuff that comes in the poster tubes between each poster in it. Probably room for 20+ posters in there along with the liners, and it takes up no space, as it just leans against a wall in the back of a closet.

I would be worried about bug damage with that. Silver fish and other kinds of pests are really attracted to cardboard, and cardboard degrades over time faster than a lot of other things. I recommend getting something made out of a more "bug proof" and long-lasting material.

    Two counter points:

    1. If you buy archival quality cellophane sleeves, bugs aren't going to be an issue even though it is stored in cardboard. Also, you should be using that type of cellophane anyways.

    2. Bugs come into place with cardboard if you are storing it in attics or basements. Dark, damp places. And again, even if you were using the cardboard filing system and storing in a shitty place (which I don't understand why anyone would), you should still be good if you are using archival quality cellophane.

Thanks guys! I think I'm going to at least stat with this. I have 4 that I need to flatten and 3 of which I want to get framed in the very near future. Especially my Lexington.

So really just need something short term.

I humbly disagree. Silver fish will go anywhere. I've had experience with the little fuckers. They do not restrict themselves to cool, damp places. On the contrary. They prefer dry places, and the lighting seems to have no impact at all on their presence either. They are very common in kitchens and bedrooms.
Yeah, sure, if you wrap your stuff in plastic that would help. The person never mentioned that. I was just commenting on the cardboard option. I don't consider it a good one with other options out there that aren't much more expensive.

Just ordered one of these yesterday, thanks to an Amazon gift card, as my 24x36 Picturesque portfolio from Jerry's Artarama is pretty much full.

If you get a poster bigger than 18x24 you've got a problem, and those do exist. I've got at least one PJ poster that is 20x26, and another that is a PJ side project, and I don't have very many posters at all. If you are willing to avoid posters that are bigger than 18x24, looks good.

I have something I built to store them flat, between acid free paper...... so the couple bigger ones cam remain there...... I'd like something I can SAFELY pull out and flip through the pages one in a while. My house is too small to frame all my gems; kong, Crackerjack, transformers ap, etc. They deserve to be seen.

Not missing anything, you can't add anymore pages to it. But for the price, you buy another one. Like I said, they're good for anything in the 18x24 or smaller range. Larger posters, or longer then 24", you have to go with a different option, like the 24x36 Picturesque portfolio from Jerry's Artarama. But you can't even get refills for them until at least March of 2017.

For lager posters, buy some MylarD sleeves to put them in and a cheap storage case like this

    http://www.draftingsteals.com/21987.html

Just a quick search, sure there is other options as well.

This is cool... Do you pisters fit tightly in the sleeves or is there a little breathing space for them do you know offhand?

Bump because that’s my question too ^^^^

ordered the 18x24 itoya. Wondering if it will be a tight squeeze fitting the 18x24 posters in there.

I have an 18x24 itoya. Not much extra space in them. They hold the posters snugly but I haven’t had any issues with mine whatsoever.
