Which Pearl Jam song has remained the same through the years?

Listening to 'Last Exit' on Let's Play Two this morning. Struck me how this song has not really lost much of it's originality so to speak - meaning through the years, when it's played, it still sounds as fresh as when they first started playing it in 94/95. What other song hasn't lost it's 'touch' through the life of the band in your opinion?

Release. When they play it live it is just as magical as the first time I heard them do it in 1994.

Exactly - Release will never lose that magic. Ed always sings it with such soul.

got me into them and is still their coolest song IMO. They still perform it well.  I think when the chorus vanished their may have been some fatigue but it never stopped being powerful in a live setting to me.  At some point he added those “heeeeeee’s” to it but that works too

It CRUSHES live. Every single time. The opening bass pops the crowd as much if not more than any song in their catalog.

Alive?  Man that ending is definitely different with the crowd interaction and the way mccready solos.

I didn't think that was the criteria. I was going off of: "a song that has not really lost much of it's originality so to speak - meaning through the years, when it's played, it still sounds as fresh as when they first started playing it in 94/95. What other song hasn't lost it's 'touch' through the life of the band in your opinion?"

I didn't think that meant what song hasn't changed in any way whatsoever.

Exactly. I love aspects of what all of the drummers have brought to both the recorded albums and live shows, but some of the examples given above couldn't be farther off. Animal? Go? Given to Fly?! As a drummer/musician, it's hard not to notice how the grooves and tempos of these songs as played today sound NOTHING like they did 20+ years ago. I'm not criticizing the performances - just pointing out that in some cases, where certain things as simple as the placement of the bass drum beat (Who You Are, Go, Animal) or changing fills and dynamic changes in the bridges (Go, State of Love and Trust) totally changes the feel of the song for me. For someone who's concentrating more on the singing or guitar melody, maybe it's not as noticeable. I struggle to find anything that hasn't changed since they were first recorded or performed live.
