Make sure that you don't have a ball of dust hanging onto your needle. I have a lil brush to remove it.  That can cause sound issues.

I also have an anti-static slipmat to help with the static problem.  In our house, that is a huge issue in the winter.  The slipmat made a huge difference!

I know a guy who uses Glass Plus Vinyl cleaner and bathroom tissue to clean his records. He swears by it.

I've seen and heard the results and his records look and sound great.

As others said, your records probably just need to be cleaned.  I didn't understand it either with new records. You'd think they would come clean, but now I clean everything before playing, or at least wipe it down first.

Alot of plants use a lubricant to keep the record from sticking to the press. So thats gonna be on every record. You top that off with whatever inner sleeve they use or how the plant handles the record as it comes off the press/has to be packaged and its just a magnet for crap. Cleaning every new record is worth the 30 seconds/1 min it takes to do it.

My Dad has a Spin Clean. He loves it. He's retired so he has time to obsess over his records.

He has told me stories of flea market finds that were filthy. After a trip through the Spin Clean, all is well.

I have one, and yeah, it's absolutely fantastic. Make sure you don't spin it TOO slow, because that's when the water starts running over the label. But that isn't a problem if you just spin it at a medium steady pace. The grooves of the record funnel the water around the label completely if you're spinning at the right speed. If you haven't already, get yourself a rubber coated dish drying rack. The cloths help. but they don't totally dry them, so you just stick the records in the rack like plates after a wipe with the cloths, and they dry really fast and safely. I give them a good wipe with the drying cloths and then 5 - 10 minutes in the rack before putting them back in the sleeves.

The only issue I find with the Spin Clean is that there is no ledge or anything to rest the record on for when you're wiping it dry. I think they should add a little rubber ledge where you can put the edge of the disc so you can really steady the thing with one hand while you wipe it dry with the other. Just holding it freely isn't easy or effective, and increases the risk of dropping it or putting your fingers all over it. As it is I rest it on the top of the cleaner, but that isn't very steady and is hard plastic. Maybe I should email them with the suggestion, lol.

Did my first test on the Spin Clean , this thing works pretty good, I'd say it got rid of 50% of the noise on a record that was VERY noisy.  Tried it with a brand new copy of Vs. made for vinyl 180 version... added noise to the copy. I swear.  What to do and think?

 I don't see how it could add noise to a record unless something was done wrong. Did you use distilled water? That is a requirement.

Well that is strange. I have no clue why that would be the case unless there is something wrong with your needle, or gunk on it or something (if it wasn't totally dry when you played it the needle could have picked up some moist gunk or been affected by water after the cleaning maybe?). Even if there is something wrong with the pressing, I don't see why it would get WORSE after a cleaning.... Unless maybe there is something hard or sharp embedded in the cleaning pads... I suppose that is possible, and that damaged the vinyl?? Seems unlikely, but it's all I can think of.

I have since read the comments on Amazon feedbacks of one or two stars .  They have experienced the exact same thing. Especially with 180 gram ie thick vinyl.   I'm going to try using something other than the white cloths provided (they leave fabric residue) and also try to use a vacuum attachment made for vinyl to use after washing again. I haven't completly given up yet.

Well that sucks. I got mine a few years ago at least, and back then all reviews were great, and the cloths I got from them leave absolutely no residue. They must have lowered their quality standards since I bought mine. Shitty! Well, they'll probably learn the hard way that they shouldn't have done that. Or they cranked out a bad batch. The ratings on Amazon are still very good, so maybe those 1 star folks just got unlucky with some defective ones. Perhaps writing to the company and asking for an exchange might be worth a try?
