Proof that groups of people don't always make sound decisions, even when it's their job to do so. And, incidentally, a little warning in case you are ever in the position to need to go to trial and are wondering if you should opt for a jury trial or not.

    http://www.salon.com/2017/07/31/jury-sentences-man-to-137-years-in-jail-for-stealing-tires/

"The jury recommended he receive a sentence of “132 years in prison, 63 months in jail and ordered to pay $6,000 in fines.”....Brooks’ final sentencing date in the case is October 18."

The judge will knock this down to something more 'reasonable' during sentencing.  It's like those verdicts where so-and-so was awarded punitive damages of $500 million; but in the end they only receive a fraction of that amount.

Yes, I saw that. There's simply no way to justify a recommendation of a jail sentence of 132 years for theft of auto parts.

  • The new Dahmer movie had me spiralling through the web looking at reviews and I came upon this event. I might have placed these buffoons in this thread before, but I wish to do it again because... my gawd man... seriously?

    http://www.nytimes.com/1991/08/26/us/officer-defends-giving-boy-back-to-dahmer.html

In short... two idiot cops get called to a situation where an incoherent 14 year old is naked in the streets. He had just escaped from Jeffrey Dahmer- who runs out to meet them and insists the drugged boy is his gay lover. The cops escort both back to Dahmer's place and eventually leave noting nothing out of the ordinary. Well... except for a gawd awful smell (the decomposing body of his last victim in the bedroom). Left with Dahmer, the boy does not fare well.

Idiots. Full on idiots. Maybe... just maybe... the human embodiments of Police Chief Wiggum and his gaggle of fools.

I think you have posted about this before; at least, I remember reading about it on here. Imagine that boy's fear, the relief at having escaped and seeing cops, who surely will protect him..... and then being handed back to his abductor. It's tragic.

A few days back my city boasted the fifth worst air quality in the world- we were off the charts with ash tumbling to the ground and covering everything.

    NEW YORK --
An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured when another girl at a sleepover in New York poured boiling water on her as she slept.

It happened on Findlay Avenue in the Bronx.

A 12-year-old girl was hosting the sleepover, and there was an adult home at the time of the incident.

The 11-year-old victim fell asleep on a couch, then at 4 a.m. she awoke to the 12-year-old girl allegedly pouring the boiling water on her.

She was taken to Harlem Hospital with serious burns. She's currently in stable condition.

here is some news from the alt-stupid

Hundreds of white marchers with blazing torches clashed briefly with counterprotesters on the Charlottesville campus of the University of Virginia on Friday, the eve of a rally planned by thousands of white nationalists, media said.

The events highlight a persistent debate in the U.S. South over the display of the Confederate battle flag and other symbols of the rebel side in the Civil War, fought over the issue of slavery.

Although I know it won't happen, my hope would be that no counter-protestors show up at the site of the "protest". The alt-right is looking for a fight and actively works to provoke it so that they can  use violence. They've been open about that as their goal. I would wish that those counter-protesting deny them that. Maybe gather a few blocks away, if they wish to demonstrate their opposition to the white supremicists. There's no up side to engaging them, and they may look a little foolish, standing there all on their own.

    Religion

Cosby was raised in a Methodist/Baptist home, but is only somewhat religious at this point.

    Political Views

Cosby is a Democrat and is very outspoken about the plight of the African-American community--but is more inclined to blame black people for their problems than anyone else.

Bill Cosby was born and grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Cosby was raised in a dual-religion household: Methodist and Baptist. Surprisingly, Cosby isn’t all that religious. He says that he identifies with both denominations but when it comes to going to church or otherwise practicing his faith, he’s more of an “absentee voter” and saying:

There are times when I will regard and think consciously about [my faith] and then there are times when I move without it.1

Cosby respects the positive influence church can have on a society, if used properly, and cites the Muslim religion as an example, saying:

If you visit these neighborhoods and look, the thing that stands out with the black Muslims is no drugs, no alcohol.2

And Cosby is critical of evangelists. He says they miss the point. Rather than trying to “conquer” someone with their faith, they should be focusing on modeling their own behavior after Christ.3

Cosby is a career comedian, and as such, doesn’t mind using religion and the Bible for jokes and has sectioned-off large portions of his book, I Didn’t Ask to Be Born (But I’m Glad I Was), to cracking wise about the story of Adam & Eve, Noah, and a host of other biblical characters.4

The intersection of Democrat and conservative

Bill Cosby is a Democrat, make no mistake about it. Of the $20,000 Cosby has donated to political causes since 1987, the majority of it was to Democratic candidates and the rest was to either Democrat or non-partisan special interest groups.5

He campaigned for Obama in 20086 and defended the president’s name in 2012. Referring to Obama’s epic battles with Congress, Cosby said:

And then when you see that [Obama] made promises and said things, the people who were supposed to be working with him didn’t. The people who are supposed to be working — even for another party — didn’t care about the American people. They wanted to get him… I believe he is for the people.

Well, I'm not sure that history shows that fascism goes away when you ignore it, but I definitely think if there's less of an audience at the rallies there will be less posturing and fewer people will get hurt.

    Wow.

The one f**king idiot at :15 punching the woman in the face needs his ass kicked.

I bet I know who these fools voted for, JC.
    who you betting on? relation?

    Trump. Final answer.

    * Is Bill Cosby part of that fascist group?
no but Obama is just as guilty for rape as Trump is for homicide, maybe even more since I doubt the driver campaigned for Trump. We have to wait and see how involved in the Trump campaign once his name is released. Hopefully he isn't Russian!
Trump has empowered the voice of these idiots with his hate mongering.

Come on man. Don't deny this.

The video is shocking. America is unstable. Trump is the root cause of this instability.

I admit the internet and online forums have empowered the alt-stupid

I don't believe that Trump is the root cause, but he has certainly emboldened these idiots. He's the bellweather, and the alt-right his flock.
