Concerts You Had Tickets To But Didn't Attend

I can think of 4.

Jeff Martin solo several years ago. (sick)
Motley Crue ($5 last minute tickets! But young daughter had a fever)
Black Keys (paperless tickets, Ed solo ended up on the same day)
The Watchmen a few weeks ago (priming got a bit out of hand-had to go to bed)

The Rolling Stones in 1994 I had the flu. We had VIP package tickets (pre- and post-show party entries). Only went to the show, not all the other stuff. Sat in my chair in the stadium feeling like I was going to barf. But I wasn't going to miss the Stones.
Darwinspeed, all.

Cheers,

HFD

    Ryan Adams in Edmonton

Bon Iver in Calgary when everyone in the family was sick

Worst - PJ @ Virginfest Calgary 2009 - brother decided to have his wedding in Saskatchewan same day, even though he is Albertan and lives an hour from Calgary.  I still haven't seen PJ outside.

Clutch w/ Mastodon. I don't remember why I didn't go, but I sold my ticket.... I think that is the only show I ever bailed on.

Don't think that's happened to me although i've won tix to some shows then couldn't make it.  Never bought tix then couldn't make it (least not that I can think of).  Also have had tix to some concerts where the show got cancelled a few times.

Phish -- small club in Birmingham in maybe '93 or '94??. My concert buddy locked his keys in the car along w/ the tix and by the time we got it sorted out the show was over.

    Doc Watson/David Grisman -- The Ryman in '00? --
I surprised my girlfriend/now wife w/ the tix. She said as a surprise she'd bought us tix, on what just so happened to be the same night, to see Neil Young play solo at the Grand Ole Opry house. We decided to see Uncle Neil play and gave the other tix to friends. Unfortunately I never got to see Doc live but last year finally saw Grisman play (w/ Del McCoury:).

PJ -- Charlottesville and Charlotte '13
. Missed out on a classic show and a classic poster. Work got super busy and had to bail. Called 10C beforehand to let 'em know and requested tix go for free to a good home

Beck -- @ the Ryman in '14. Had tix for both nights of two night stand. Was only able to go to one night due to workload. Tried to give away tix but couldn't (WTF?). The show I did see was awesome....first and only time I've seen Beck

Soundgarden -- Tuscaloosa '17. Couldn't rustle up a wingman to make the short road trip so opted not to go and ate the tix. If I only knew then what I know now.

There have been others that I couldn't attend but would up selling the tix on eBay.

Everclear in Edmonton about 8 or 10 years ago ($20/ticket, had seen them before, and the person I was going with bailed out).
Judas Priest (biggest regret again, because I've never seen Judas Priest - Person I was going with got sick and couldn't find a replacement).
Foo Fighters in Edmonton around 2009? (I was sick and couldn't go, I've seen them a # of times, so it wasn't end of world).
Bruce Springsteen - The Rising Tour - Ended up having a final exam the same day.   I was on this honesty kick and tried to tell the truth to get it moved to another day.   It didn't work, and I went back to believing that sometimes lies aren't bad :)

The Foo Fighters one I missed above, it turned out I had bronchitis.  A few days later I had a trip back home to Victoria with tickets to see Springsteen and an Eddie Vedder solo show in Vancouver.   I toughed out Springsteen with a nasty fever and ended up sitting down in the middle of the pit during the encore because I was about to collapse.  I stubborned the crap out of that show.   The Eddie Vedder show was seated so I was fine.   I thought I had the flu and didn't find out it was bronchitis until I got back to Edmonton.  Cleared up in a few days form antibiotics.... shrug.

Consider I've seen hundreds of shows, I don't feel I've missed too many.

I won awesome seats for last year's TOTD lottery at the LA Forum.  Husband was in the hospital for over a week, and just couldn't go without him (wouldn't have enjoyed it without him, either).

My heart still breaks over that whole thing, for more reasons now, in hindsight.

Duke Ellington, 1974.  Ellington took ill and the concert was cancelled.  He dies a few weeks later.

i was more meaning shows you had tickets to and/or paid for and you didn't attend because of YOUR reasons. not that you sold them or the artist cancelled.
