    Agreed.

Ed does a slower Betterman in solo shows. I'm not into it.

What do people think? I personally love the original version (no slow down) and think slowing it down kind of kills the mood of the song. But I do understand the appeal of the slow down. If they're going to tour in 2018 (fingers crossed) I'd love to see them bring back the original way of playing it.

are you crazy.......the newer version is a brilliant musical bridge organic masterpiece

It would be sick if they did the slow down every now and then and kept people guessing as to which version they're going to play, that would keep the song and show fresh and would still please "corduroy purists" like myself.

I hope they go back to the original Corduroy next tour. Both the new Corduroy and new DTE kill the songs for me.

Loved it the first time I heard it. Now I want the original back. Too big a point in the song to slow down. The whole crowd is ready to explode and it doesn't happen.

  • I'd personally bring back the "old" live version of Porch, where they would add a tag during the jam. I'd use to buy the boots just to discover what the tag was.

holy hell. what's not to love about that. incredible
  • I like the " newer" version. It provides a breakdown that propels the rest of the song and makes it seem new. Greenville version is especially wicked.

/\ This. And the improv Daughter tags that were always random. Best one from '16 was Hampton.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I like the new version of Corduroy, but it needs fewer/no crowd callbacks. Think Wrigley '13 (Above).

I like it, but I love the older versions closer to the studio version like 1995 .

  • Yep new DTE and Corduroy are terrible.  Just what we need, more fans trying to sing louder than Ed. And I'm not sure of the best version of Corduroy, but it has to be 2000 or before when Ed's voice still crushed.

Lol it's definitely not terrible, still an unreal song but I just prefer the way it's originally played. And you've got to admit, Ed's voice is fantastic for a 52 year old man. Yeah he has his ups and downs but for singing the way he has for 25+ years, he sounds amazing. Additionally, his voice has gotten better over the past few years, much clearer, has more control, and is hitting notes he hasn't hit in a long time.
