I seem to remember reading somewhere the doors open at 4pm because that's what time Prufrock Pizzaria opens. The website says the doors open according to the event and to check the ticket link for exact times, but I couldn't find any info other than the start time of 6pm. I guess they'll let us duke it out for the best seats. We're driving down from near Bakersfield, looking to get there about 2-2:30, so we will see y'all there!

    Today! :)

  • Hey to the people who went in NY and Seattle, how was it?  Couldn't find a thread on it.
I went to the NYC q&a. It was the best!!!  Mike had so many great stories- then my daughter and I got to chat with him while he signed our book.

Great discussion with Mike and Cameron. I love the book, it's beautiful. Unfortunately I couldn't stay for the booking signing, way too many people, like, 1k, and it would have taken me at least 3 hours to get my book signed. I love Mike, but I had to get home. Glad I went. :)

What a fun event.....except for the signing line, which wasn't greatly organized.

As we pointed out to the organizer: everyone was wearing a numbered wristband already, why not just line us up in groups of 25 by those numbers. Then those who arrived first get signed first. I've never been to a signing like this that didn't use some kind of number system.

Mike was taking his time to have a little personal chat with every person who had a book signed, and was doing some personalizations. So he was doing two to three books per minute max. Simple math says it would take at least 3 hours to take care of everybody ( they said the crowd was five to six hundred.)

I got signed at the 90-minute mark, I'd estimate half the crowd or more was still waiting. Quite a few people left.

The entire audio is posted above, it's only about an hour and worth the listen. Paraphrasing--he said that they could be a band that just tours on their legacy but still feel that they want to create and keep it interesting for them by doing new things, recording new material etc.

If anyone submitted a direct question on that topic, such as when's the next tour or where's the new album or when is the Wrigley DVD coming out, those weren't asked in the open session. It's possible somebody asked him while they were getting their books signed.

Yeah that was kind of brutal. Wait outside downtown Los Angeles for an hour before seating. I know there were people lined up by 4:00 too. Sit and wait in jampacked folding chairs for another hour and half. Then...The interview was great. Then waited for 2 and a half hours to get book signed.  9-11:30. You know I have to love mike mcCready for all that!! And I do!! It could have been way better organized. You are so right!! pretty sure that place was a fire hazard. No tp in br and food horrible.

But the saving grace of the whole thing was the awesome Peal Jam fans. So nice to meet Christine and Dan and Daniel and Justin and all the wonderful people there. That made it all tolerable.

We arrived at the theater about 3:30 and there was a small group already waiting outside. The staff at the Regent have obviously never handled an event like this one before such was their disorganization and muddled confusion. I think they haven't had much experience with a crowd where the average age was over 30, so the attitude was somewhat off putting. We were given armbands that would allow us to skip the line, but we also had to spend more than $10 in the bar or pizza place, which was fine...the pizza was pretty good. But we ended up in two lines nonetheless, one to get in a seat another to have the book signed. We were some of the unfortunate ones at the end - didn't get to the table until almost 11:00.
What made at all worthwhile was the event itself. The discussion with Cameron and Mike was brief but funny, enlightening and touching when Mike spoke about Layne and especially, Chris. By the time we got to the table, Mike had been signing his name for over two hours and you could tell he was quite tired, but he greeted my daughter and I like old friends. My daughter gave him a watercolor she painted of Mike and Chris from Hearts Hall of Fame induction. He was quite moved as he said "oh wow, that's me and Chris. Thank you so much."
A huge thank you to Mike and Cameron for what turned out to be an enjoyable evening. Thank you to Mike for sharing your photos and some memories with us. It was an honor.
