Well I received Full Moon Fever, for anyone wondering if that Tom Petty reissue is legit and available.
Did they do a good job on the repressing?  Great album!
Yes!  It sounds fantastic!! Get it.  All the Petty repress albums sound great!

lolobug, tempo, that friend I mentioned is pretty serious about his record collection.  I think even asking him would be like asking a parent if they might consider selling off a kid or two, lol.  Not likely! And he's like me in that it's not about collecting them as much as about hearing them and being into analog.

We were talking about back in the day when every neighborhood had a record store.  When I was in my teens there were two within short walking distance of my house and maybe 6 or 8 within a 20 minute bike ride.  I miss that!
Brian those early DC records are some of my favorites!  I have some Rites of Spring records still.  I wish I had bought more back then!

    I hear both of ya.

Dischord and Subpop are two of my favorite labels along with SST. I am jealous of your friends collection. no telling how much rare stuff he has like the Subpop limited singles, etc. if he has the first pressing of Rites of Spring- holy shit!!!   I hated the 80s because I was too young to appreciate it. The underground was amazing but I didn't find out till a whole lot later. way too late to procure all those OGs.

Picked up the 7 'Best of' titles in the American Epic series titles today at Third Man in Nashville. Went ahead and got the limited pressings since they were only available in-store today. Really cool historical pieces of music.

A few more showed up last night.

Thought for sure when Best Buy delayed my preorder on Secret Samadhi and The Distance to Here that I was gonna miss out on the colored vinyl, but (happy surprise) I got them!

I really wish MOV pressed every album I wanted, they do such a great job.

What does everyone use to clean their albums?

The past couple of new albums that have come from Amazon have some kind of film (dirt?) on them.

If you are talking about the dust that comes on a new album, then I just use the standard brush that you hold on it while it spins.  10 rotations for new, 3 whenever I play the record.
If you mean something more substantial, I have found that cleaning with gentle soap and water with a lint free soft towel, following the grooves forward and then back works awesome.  I don't have an okie nokie or anything like that because I just don't buy enough used records.  But I have turned a few dirty used ones into gems with hand cleaning.  It does not harm the record in the least.

Okki Nokki for all records that look to need cleaning (even new ones)
Spin Clean + Okki Nokki for this really dirty used records. (Spin Clean first, then Okki)

Thunderon conductive filament brush, use this to remove static. I brush the record, both side before each play.
Carbon Fiber Brush before playing each side, every time.
Carbon Fiber Sylus Brush, clean stylus after each side.

Beach Boys, "Surfer Girl", Analogue Productions, Mono.   Like new.  Admittedly, there are a few duds on this record but it also has some of my favorite Beach Boys songs and sound quality on Analogue Productions makes them sound all the more marvelous!  Super thrilled to have this one.

Thats what I hear. I have some late 70's pressed dynaflex versions. they sound fine, but I've read these pressings are some of the best they have ever done.
