Do PJ show stickers fade on cars?

brainofebrainofe Posts: 263
I bought a sticker at a PJ show back in 2014 and have been meaning to stick it on my car but I'm afraid it will fade when exposed to the elements. Does anyone have any experience with that? Is there a way to prevent fading? Thanks.

Not that I have noticed.  Since I live in the land of snow and salt, I do find that the edges can give way after a few years, but no fading.

I have a couple (few? ) pj stickers on my car. They are holding up great. No wear, fading or fraying. Plenty of weather here

side note:  it's a matter of debate in my family how many pj stickers a 43 yo woman can have on her car before people start to wonder about her

4 PJ and 1 Pixies.  (Pixies was the one to fade.)  No one asks a thing and I am 43, too.

the older show stickers definitely fade and wear away... not sure how well the newer show stickers will hold up over time, but I definitely question the quality and durability of the 2012-2013 stickers... I have a Charlotte 2013 sticker that wont stick to anything...

I have a bunch of Pearl Jam and Ed solo stickers on my car. They are all still look great. The only PJ related sticker that isn't holding up is my foil RNDM sticker. That one is really faded.

Here's my 1995 Subaru Legacy (sign of the cross, RIP) before I turned it in in 2015. From Left to Right: PJ 2003, Chaco Canyon (non-PJ) 2012,  PJ 2006, and PJ Philly 2013. The Chaco Canyon sticker replaced an earlier PJ sticker that just wore off, think it was a Canada 2005 sticker. Little sticker under the keyhole is from New Brunswick 2009. 2003 sticker didn't fare well at all, but the other two PJ stickers held up fine. When I traded in the car, my mom and one of my co-workers both said "But what about all your Pearl Jam stickers?!" Ha.

Didn't put any stickers on my new car, figured staying anonymous is a better idea.

The 2013 Wrigley I have is falling off, my fault...

Old Salty sticker is fading though...

Ok, so it seems like the more recent show stickers may be better quality and last longer. I'm still stinking of maybe spraying it with a water proof clear coat or something. Has anyone tried that before?

It wouldn't hold.  The temperature changes would make it resize on the surface of the sticker and I fear that it would be a crazed mess.

Crazed as in: to become minutely cracked, as a ceramic glaze; crackle.
