Turntable help

So I've had the same setup for quite some time - turntable, onkyo receive, 2 paradigm speakers.

We recently moved and I had to change (obviously) the location of my set up. I've noticed that the sound seems to be louder out of my left speaker. The sound out of right is just a little softer, not distorted in any way, just lower level. I have adjusted in my receiver to +2 the right speaker, and this kind of levels it out, but I'm just wondering why this could happen?

The left speaker is closer to the turntable in the way it is all situated, so the speaker wire is shorter, could that impact the volume level out of that channel?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Regardless of the distance between speakers and amp, the speaker wire should be the same length on both channels.

Are you only noticing the volume disparity with the turntable or is it present on other sources? Is it possible that the cantilever (needle) got bent or the cartridge on your turntable got knocked out of alignment?

The more info you share the better others can contribute.

Thanks @dudeman - didn't realize I should have the wire the same length regardless. I haven't tested it to other sources yet which I know I should do and will try to. Previously this receiver ran my turntable as well as TV, firestick, everything - but now it is just my turntable as I (finally) have a dedicated room just for music. But I can try to USB my ipod into it and test that out.

I was wondering if my stylus or cartridge could be playing a part, but visually it doesn't look out of line or anything. I'm always hesitant to mess with them because it came set up so I've never had to change any of that and I wouldn't know where to begin. If they were the culprit, would it cause any other distortion other than volume?

could be the stylus not riding correctly in the groove. that might account for increased sound in one channel over the other. also make sure your speaker wire is connected black to black/red to red from the amp to the speaker. if not, it will be out of phase which usually causes distortion but might account for the loudness problems.

There should be some standard settings that came with your turntable. Perhaps start there. Like you're setting it up for the first time?

We moved into our new house 3 months ago and I still haven't set up my stereo permanently. I figured that I would take the time to tune everything up and that has become a slow process.

Moving, starting a new business, running my wife's office and chasing a toddler around takes a big chunk of the day.

Have you figured out the turntable issues, OP?
